Actually, there is an OR 8, but I don't know of any other single digits.

To be fair, I would think that it is not uncommon for someone who lives in the western part of the US to be missing a route numbered "1".  There's no I-1 (Fritzowl notwithstanding); US 1 can be missed by somebody who has never been to the eastern US; and California (among western states) has one of the few major state roads numbered "1".  So if you've never been on US 1 nor CA 1, there's a good chance that you may not be near a route 1.  A few western states have a route 1, but they tend to be minor.

As far as I can tell, the lowest number that I haven't been on is 8. The next highway I have been on is US 10.
