I'm really having fun with guessing the 2dis and 3dis, so why don't we start a game for non-interstate freeways? Same basic rules as the other challenges, but the roadway must be a true freeway or tollway, and it cannot be a known unposted interstate like I-124, I-444, I-595, etc. because, of course, those can be played in the other games. If your guess is a US highway, you do not have to specify the state.
Let's start with this one:

Also, an early thought: we may need to start with a region reveal to keep it from being too hard.

Not US-29, but yeah that might be a good idea. Especially with this photo which, I must admit, looks like it could be anywhere, because I'm pretty sure I've seen that sound wall design outside of this particular state.
But anyway, the region is Southeast.
GA-400?

Not Florida's Turnpike.
I'll give another clue: it passes by a major tourist attraction in the city it's located in.

Not NJ-208 either, though I'm not sure if this counts anyway since it does share some lack-of-controlled-access features with NJ-17, though not quite as abundant.
I should know where this is. But I don't.
US 6 in PA, perhaps?
I'm guessing it's one of the parkways in New York State - the Saw Mill, the Taconic, the Palisades, or the Hutch. Any of those?

Ok it shows up as a blue freeway in RMcN atlases so I guess I assumed it was a true freeway but I suppose super streets are marked this way as well. And I assumed it was climbing one of the same hills as I-280 does as you head west out of Newark.

That is interesting, as clearly this would disqualify it from being a freeway (https://www.google.com/maps/@41.0111037,-74.2013346,3a,75y,323.23h,78.39t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sa9pihfborqbpP-ye4YYFHQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) in my view. Actually, the clue had absolutely no impact on my guess. The main thing I was looking for was that frontage road and the bend in the road. I thought it was Pennsylvania, but once
webny99 guessed NY, I figured it had to be somewhere there. Once I figured that out, I found the spot within a couple of minutes. I'll have something up later today!
Never one to overthink things (LOL), I figured it was WNY based on the Midwest/Great Lakes clue, but I was stuck on the Buffalo area for some reason and forgot about the possibilities around Niagara Falls (except for the Robert Moses/Niagara Scenic Parkway, which I knew it wasn't).

RM/NSP used to be a continuous 4 lane divided parkway from I-190/LaSalle all the way to NY-18 near 4 Mile Creek. At some point, both directions through Niagara Falls State Park were removed and the section between the Park and John Daly Blvd was converted to WB only. Later on, the NB carriageway from Niagara Falls to Lewiston was converted to 2 way traffic. More recently, the interchange at John Daly Blvd was converted to a roundabout and the one way road west of there was converted into the one way Riverway. Most recently, the entirety of the 2 lane parkway was removed south of Whirlpool St/Findlay Dr.

Yep, and it's full interstate standard with full paved shoulders, because sometime after we're all in our graves, this will become I-74. This view is looking NB from the SB lanes, just N of the SC 22 interchange. https://maps.app.goo.gl/7cEVQNDq4xrUqC6h7?g_st=ic

US-50/Arlington Blvd?
Correct! This route is largely a divided highway with frontage roads and occasionally interchanges. The segment I chose from had a few back-to-back interchanges so I considered it a short freeway segment.
I-66 parallels the route and provides the proper interstate routing, although US-50 remains an important local route.

Also, US 50 has zero HOV/HOT restrictions, unlike I-66 inside the beltway.
This was good! I was going to guess either US 29 in Greensboro or US 421 in W-S, even though those roadways are a little more clustered up.

That is a rather remote section of highway, especially looking the other direction. I did think it looked sort of like the Southern Tier.

Correct! Naturally. I drove it a lot in the mid-90's shortly after it opened (much of it was Super 2 except for the two hill climbs which had always been four lanes). This is going up the hill as you're going south from Dunlap, just before the Scenic View area.

Interesting! Are there any plans to improve the remainder of the route up to Cookeville to a proper four lane divided highway? It appears there are varying sections of 4 lane undivided to border-line city street, then standard four lane divided highway in other areas.

I'm not sure about the big hill climbs north of Dunlap or north of Spencer. North of Dunlap seems like it would be quite the undertaking since there is a sizable drop off next to the southbound lanes. This is probably why they restriped much of it for four lanes sometime around the early 00's. They were trying to get most of the flatter areas on the big plateau from north of Dunlap all the way through Spencer widened, mainly because it's easy, but they may have diverted funding elsewhere since traffic volumes through there are still low. As far as north of Livingston up to KY, much of that was made improved two lane in the mid to late 90's, and it goes through Pickett County (lowest county population in TN), so it's likely not a high priority at all.
