This very, very nasty stuffy nose I've had the last several days.  No idea what's caused it, but it's the worst I've ever had in my life.  During the evening and at night, I'm 100% blocked, can't breathe at all through either nostril.  The only thing that works is Afrin, which is a problem because Afrin shouldn't be used more than three days because of the risk of rebound congestion.  And breathing through my mouth requires me to consciously think about it, so I can't sleep that way.

I've tried literally everything to find a way to control it other than Afrin (since I've passed the three day mark and it's showing no sign of ending).  I've tried Ibuprofin.  I've tried Sudafed PM.  I've done consultations at CVS twice to try to find something.  I've tried Claritin.  Just now I've taken the CVS version of Flonaise.  Nothing works in the slightest.  What can I do?  I don't think I'm going to get a single minute of sleep tonight - not unless I use the Afrin again and risk rebound congestion.

Honestly, are the buildings that bad that a simple gutting can't cure?  Do y'all remember they were all rebuilt not THAT long ago... 2001/2002.

And in the old plazas, here's the facilities map:

I know one article in the latest round of plaza rehabs from when Applegreen was awarded the contract said that the plazas haven't been rehabbed since the 1950s.  Definitely not true.  Lee-WB and Blandford-EB were constructed where there weren't any food service buildings at all and that happened during the 2001/02 rehab.

39 is weird in that a lot of the planning surface routing was never even adopted as State Highway in the first place.  The discontinuous segment was signed for a time because Sign Route designations because intertwined with denoting Caltrans maintenance.

Looking at the definition, there are no cities where relinquished has been authorized, but hasn't occurred yet. I don't recall seeing anything in the legislature about further changes to the definitions of Route 39. If there is, it would be on my legislation page, https://www.cahighways.org/links-legislation.html

Quote from: architect77 on October 15, 2025, 10:30:35 AMFewer direction signs are probably common, I never really noticed that some weren't part of the signs.

NC581 (and NC561) begin in Louisburg, where I grew up.

I like the simple diamond shield for state highways. I've never cared for the outline of state's shapes.

NC at one time used the symbol for UNC Chapel Hill, the N and C on top of one another was at one time the state highway shield, in the 30s, 40s, maybe 50s.

For the use of the interlocked NC and UNC, they are not completely the same.

Michigan:
Red arrow highway now that I-94 bypasses it (New sections are getting dieted) [AADT 4000]

Airline Highway in Muskegon Heights that now looks abandoned, seems to be wide enough for 4 lanes but not striped [AADT 1500]

US-23 and M-13 by Bay City (also the freeway connector) [AADT 10,000]

Michigan has plenty of unneeded wide roads meanwhile M-11 serves as the west bypass of Grand Rapids and is 2 lanes serving 25 thousand vehicles per day that MDOT really doesn't want to widen.
