US 101 is THE backbone of the Pacific coast from Bandon OR to Willits CA.  Industry, tourism and local traffic would be gone or severely crippled without it being in functioning condition in BOTH states.

Not at all. I can only think of 2 major pikes where the tolls were removed (DFW and Denver-Boulder.  I know there have been short pikes in KC and elsewhere that are now free).  Despite MANY promises, once government sees what a revenue producer some of the roads are, they can't let go of that cash cow. OK is no different.  At least our pike revenue goes for other roads.

When you come to a fork in the road... TAKE IT.

I can also think of a couple of others:

- the Kentucky parkway system and the old Kentucky Turnpike
- Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike

Revive 755

Also:
* The former one on I-30 between Dallas and Fort Worth
* The Virginia Beach Expressway in Virginia Beach.

What exactly are the proposed improvements for GA 400 anyway?

That would be "DFW And other short pikes"

The former Quebec toll autoroutes (A-15/Laurentian Autoroute, A-10/Eastern Townships autoroute, A-13/Chomedey autoroute and A-40/North Shore autoroute) got their tolls removed and ironically, mainly A-10, is now in less good shape then it was before

NE2

West Virginia (or was that tied to twinning it with Interstate funding?)
There are also a lot of bridges that have had tolls removed. And if you want to go further back in time, the last private 19th-century turnpike was bought by the government somewhere around 1930.

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

I expect the same trickery to be used as the tolls on the Crescent City Connection end next year.

In NY we just extend the toll period and pretend the expiration never existed.

Interchanges bascially, and more of them.

When does construction start on the I-85 interchange? I've been away from Atlanta since the end of March, and one of the fly-over ramps would have been less than 100 yards from my deck-nears Sidney Marcus off ramp.

^^

I think that the I-85/400 interchange is still in discussion. I don't think it's near the consturction stage (a start date or year I don't think is even in discussion).

Be well,

Well...if it gets the Westbank Expressway completed to US 90, then it will be worth it.
