Hello, my name is Mark. I currently live in Lexington, KY. I have long been a fan of the AA Roads site, but until just recently did not realize that there was a forum. As peculiar of a niche as this road interest seems to many that I've talked to, I was pleasantly surprised to find there are this many like-minded people.

My family is from Daytona Beach, and I have always loved southeastern roads. I love I-95 as it goes through so many places I love, although the highways in West Virginia where I previously lived are absolutely beautiful as well. My favorite roadgeeking activity is photography. I enjoy taking pictures of signs as well as making cinematic videos of certain routes.

That's a little bit about me. I look forward to many great discussions here at AA Roads.

Same here, just found the forum.  I am Steve from Austin, Texas, though I lived my first 37 years in Saint Paul, MN.  I lived briefly in Yellowstone NP for a summer too.  Favorite road is US-191 going through Moab & Yellowstone among other great places.  Just bought my first camera in 5 years and looking forward to the Utah/Arizona/Colorado road trip next month.

I hate flying in part because its a slap in the face to the classic road trip

1) leave Austin for Lubbock
2) Gallup, NM
3) Flagstaff, AZ
4 & 5) Grand Canyon
6) Hurricane, UT (near Zion)
7 & 8) Las Vegas
9) Parowan, UT (near Cedar Breaks NM)
10) Hatch, UT (near Bryce Canyon NP)
11) Torrey, UT (near Capitol Reef NP)
12 & 13) Moab, UT
14) Blanding, UT (near Canyonlands NP)
15) Cortez, CO (near Mesa Verde NP)
16) Gunnison, CO
17) Lubbock, TX again
18) back to Austin

can only afford to stay in the lodge at Grand Canyon but 18 days, 17 nights will be a great road trip

Wow not bad! I don't know that I've ever taken that long of a trip, although probably came close when driving from the east coast to California and back (of course with a few days of vacation once there). About flying - well, I don't prefer it as a purely means of getting places. I'm a fanatic about recreational and especially military aviation. But you're right, there's no replacement for a carefree day on the road.

We did even more in less time from MN once.  Being in TX now it can be broken up a bit more, not doing all of Colorado this time, until next year, maybe along with SD if we can swing it.
