I spotted a interesting rant about Viacom and Nickelodeon via alt.tv.nickelodeon about the direction the network taked as well as the decline in the ratings.

including some videos

Edit: The way the channel do, we could be tempted to said "Where's the fun?" in the same tune as the old lady from Wendy's commercial who said "Where's the Beef?"

"Just like Megaman X, I am an idealist"

You also blatantly ripped off the intro to Rockman/Megaman X6. And the chapter intro from Command Mission. Somebody's a fan!

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

It's geared towards kids. Today's kids like nick the same way we did when we were young. It's unreasonable to expect it to not change to follow the interests of today's youths. For us older nostalgic folks, Teen Nick regularly shows old shows from the 90's at night like All That and Doug.

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

It slimed me once.

Watched it around 1982-84, didn't give it anothet thought until catching an episode of Red & Stimpy while channel surfing. My daughter used to like Nick Jr., but now she perfers movies...

Can we extend this to include rants about Nick At Nite? I'm kind of confused as to how George Lopez has aired nonstop in prime time since 2008, while every other show since then, many with more episodes, have entered and left since then.

Nick is doing OK, I think.  Actually, I look forward to each new episode of Legend of Korra.

Would I be showing my age if I said I remember Nick before the Nicktoons came along?  I don't think Nickelodeon would still be relevant today if their original content still consisted entirely of live-action stuff.
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been.

I don't think I watched it before any Nicktoons were on, but I started watching it in the early 90s, when live-action shows like Clarissa Explains It All and The Adventures Of Pete & Pete were popular and All That was just starting. There were a few Nicktoons on at the time, but it wasn't until Cartoon Network started showing original cartoons that Nick really increased its Nicktoons output. Nowadays I think the only live-action shows are on the Saturday night block that used to be called Snick when we were growing up.

Ren and Stimpy, Doug, and Rugrats.

Remember the old Disney Afternoon? Eight year old me thought that Duck Tails, Tail Spin, and Rescue Rangers were some of the best shows ever.

Other shows that make me feel old:
You Can't Do That On Television
Double Dare without families
Picture Pages with Bill Cosby (just a segment maybe?)
I remember a game show with a house, but I can't remember much about it

How about Darkwing Duck? It was sort of a spinoff of DuckTails (it had the pilot guy from DT, whose name eludes me) but it revolved around a superhero. Also, IIRC, Tail Spin's main character was a clothed version of Baloo from the Jungle Book. There was also a show in that block called Goof Troop, which was about Goofy, Pete (Goofy's neighbor), and their sons.

It's hard to believe this all occurred 20 years ago.

I distinctly remember the introduction of the first trio of Nick Toons.  (not the UW alum drafted by New Orleans) Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats and Doug.  Started what turned out to be a life-long relationship with the voice-over of one Billy West.  You know him today as half the principle cast of Futurama.
Before the Nick Toons, Nickelodeon just syndicated old Warner Bros. stuff.  It was kind of a big deal.  They added more as the years went by.
I recall Nick's live action shows, but in retrospect, I probably only watched them because they were on the same channel as the cartoons.  When Keenan Thompson joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, I definitely remembered him from his years on All That.  He had a recurring sketch where he was a cook always putting chocolate on everything.

My favorite Keenan sketch was the one that taught conversational French.

I wanted to be on Double Dare just to go through the obstacle course, especially the wringer.

So many roads...so little time.
