[Stands up from folding chair] Hello, my name is Eric, and I am a road-a-holic.

In all seriousness, I happened to come across this website and forums when I was doing a little research on the Clearview sign font for work.  I've loved learning everything about roads since I received my first Matchbox car as a kid.  My Matchbox and Lego towns always had properly signed, signalled, and lit streets.

I grew up in southeast portion of Wisconsin (the old WisDOT District 2), being most familiar with the highways from Milwaukee in the south, to the Fox Cities in the north.  I went to school at the UW in Madison, and now live just outside of Madison.  I currently work for a transportation design consulting firm, specializing in intersection design, analysis, highway sign design, and pavement marking.  We do the majority of our work within the State of Wisconsin, but we also do work elsewhere in the US and a bit in Canada.

Hi Eric! I also went to UW Madison and work for a consulting firm. I'm in the Twin Cities now though, but I really enjoy the Madison area as well. Welcome!

Girlfriend was there for years and is flying in to Madison tomorrow for a funeral.  She hates the Packers though.  I like them because I'm from Minnesota originally and hated the Viqueens so much.

Welcome indeed.  Wisconsin is already well represented around here so you'll find very active discussions about this state to join.  And we've sure got some interesting road projects to discuss these days.

Thanks guys...my only regret is not finding this place sooner.  There seems to be a lot more intelligent conversation (and in some cases, more knowledgeable) than over on the FHWA communities forums.

Also forgot to mention, I also have a background of working with roundabouts, in addition to some signalized intersection design and analysis.  So if you have any roundabout questions, feel free to ask...if I don't know the answer, I know where I can get one.

If you were a few years older, I'd probably say that we might have been in a few classes together (assuming you're also a CEE grad as well).  Glad to see more Badgers infiltrating Gopher territory.

Give her a little time, she'll come around.  My sister-in-law is starting to, (although she still is in love with the other "America's Team").   Always glad to meet another with a mutual disdain for the Dramaqueens.
