The neon has mostly gone away, and there are a lot more abandoned store fronts these days, but the traffic is still the same. Yes, the flagship is still there, albeit as a new building. Of note, the building showed in the opening footage (Ray's Sport Shop in its final days) was just demolished last week.

The Leaning Tower of Pizza in Green Brook, NJ was a landmark as well.  That closed in the late 80s, but had a vestabule in front with a withing a small scale leaning tower .   When the new owner took it over, only removed the tower, but kept the building.

East Winds in Scotch Plains was a popular Chinese restaurant that was there for decades, now closed.
The place OpDyke's in North Plainfield might still be there.  Known for homemade apple pie.
Bowcraft Playland in Scotch Plains is still there.
Scotchwood Diner has been sort of a landmark that is still in business.

Blue Star Shopping Center, although has had a change in anchor stores over the years, is still strong. That is in Watchung, but US 22 in front of it is mostly in Scotch Plains.  The border is the Blue Brook that runs between the highway and strip mall.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

"Dennison's, a men's clothier, Route 22, Union, New Jersey, open 8AM to 5AM...open right now!"

Long gone, of course, but it made for some memorable live commercials usually read by Charlie Greer on WABC.
