does anyone know where this route was?  I am not finding anything on the internet, except info on US 70.

I estimate the sign is from the 20s or 30s.

The VA Highways Project's NC Annex may have info on it. I'd check it myself but it isn't loading on my phone.

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

thanks!

and now I also know that there was an NC US 411 (and its extension into VA, which was different from the first VA US 411)... and also an NC and VA US 170.

Never seen route markers for those.

According to Mapmikey's site, NC 70 started where SC 23 ended, followed parts of what are now US 301 and a frontage road of I-95, as well as NC 72, NC 211, NC 5 and Old US 220. After following several city streets through Greensboro, NC 70 largely followed the original US 29 alignment all the way to the VA line. It was completely decommissioned in 1934. At first, I used to think that it was a former alignment of US 70, but I've been proven wrong.

Not to be a snoop or anything, but where did you find such a treasure? The most I can find for my area of the South (Louisiana and Mississippi) is with the local Department of Transportation. Old rusted signs are the best, and maybe that Rick guy on the TV can fix it up for you.
