Maps are hard. :(

(I'll agree that if US 92 were decommissioned, it wouldn't be any big loss.  So point taken.)

Well.......IMO the interstate system is a system all its own. They dont have to cross state lines, just as long as they provide a nice connection from at least one city to another, or from a city to a main interstate. Im sure US 92 is the only exception, but US highways were specifically created for state to state travel, so it only makes sense for it to cross a border at least once. Otherwise the US part is really irrelevant. Some people think its about volume and the type of traffic it carries that make a highway a US highway. Thats not the case.

One could argue that the US highways are part of a system as well, albeit and older system.  If you want to get all worked up about 1 state US routes less than 300 miles look at NJ. US 46, US 130, US 206( i know it has a small amt in PA). That ought to get you all worked up

Yeah and New Jersey is a small state as well?  US 46 is in the shadow of I-80 and US 130 is a main drag that just serves the east side of the Delaware River and connects US 1 at North Brunswick acting as a small bypass of Trenton.  US 206, I cannot figure out its intention, but ends abruptly at US 30 in Hammonton.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

The current standards say that single state US routes should be at least 300 miles, right? I think only US 158 meets that criterion.
That means that a two state US route could be less than 300 miles. So US 206 is not a violation.

Also, US 58 as well, although it would fit in to the over 300 club if it were not into KY as it is Virginia's longest US (and all designations) highway at just over 500 miles overall.

You're not very good at this.
I demand an apology.
