The weather was nice today (for Seattle).  After class (that I skipped most of because I was up all night doing homework, and I was on 5 hour energy and a beer at this point).  Anyways, canoozing is a popular event at my college where you have booze and canoe.

Snapped these on my iPhone from my instagram.

The clearance underneath the viaduct was approximately 4', but sitting in a canoe was fine.  The friend that went with me is about the same height at 5'8".   Had the temperature been warmer, we would have ventured farther east.  We went through the University Arboretum on the other side of the freeway, since there's a small creek network there that you can canoe through.  But there are plenty of cranes for the replacement 520 bridge.
Take the road less traveled.

Justin C. and I kayaked under the I-10 Escambia Bay Bridges and the parallel CSX Railroad bridge on Thanksgiving Day of 2006. The water level is lower during the colder months, which allowed us to kayak under the base of the pier support for the CSX bridge, where the batter piles extend outward. That had a similar clearance, where I could reach up from the kayak and place my hand flat on the concrete above. We also went through the gap at the base of the new bridge supports:
