Has a toll ever been added to an existing road?

With all the talk of retrofitting certain highways with tolls...

Has this ever actually been done anywhere?   Where an existing, toll-free expressway -- or for that matter, an untolled bridge or tunnel -- was given a toll?

It seems like all the toll roads we have now were built as tollways.  I know of two toll roads that had their tolls removed (JFK Highway in MD, and the CT Turnpike).  And there are at least two locations where former HOV lanes had tolls added, at least for some users, in the form of HOT or HO/T lanes, in VA and FL.  But are there any locations where a toll was added to all lanes of a highway?

Yes, a toll is in the process of being added to the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway (IL-390) in Chicago's NW suburbs.  It was built as a freeway by IDOT and given to ISTHA to add lanes and extend eastward.

In Norfolk/Portsmouth VA, Midtown Tunnel (US 58) and Downtown Tunnel (I-264) both had tolls restored after starting out as toll roads then being toll free for nearly 25 years.

There are several highways & bridges that were converted from 2 way tolls to one way tolls, including 95 (JFK) in MD. Not really removing tolls, as they generally double the tolls on the tolled direction.

Nearly every (or is it every?) Delaware & Hudson River bridge received similar one way tolling treatments.

I-95 over the Delaware River will have tolls added when the bridge is widened in the near future.

The AC Expressways' Interchange 9 had tolls added in what were once free movements.

The eastbound exit from the Dulles Toll Road to VA-7 had a toll added many years after the road opened.

I believe the OP's referring to a road that wasn't originally tolled but then became tolled.  The Mass Pike (I-90) started as a toll road.

SH 99 (Grand Parkway) in Chambers County, TX.  The section from I-10 to Fisher Road was free when it opened in 2008, but three years later, TxDOT started to charge tolls for that segment.

Sorry, I thought that was referring to the other I-95 bridge over the Delaware River, though I guess that already happened. That's an interesting case, though. I always thought of the Turnpike bridge as being free with toll roads on either side. Now the bridge has its own one way toll. Does that count as new?

It was always tolled, you have to pay prior to entering it from the nearest exit to the bridge, at least until this month.

Peak direction only and only during rush hours under the current proposal for I-66 inside the Beltway. Essentially it's converting an HOV roadway to HO/T during the current HOV hours.

In Melbourne (Aus), some previously free sections of the Tullamarine and Monash freeways were tolled in order to pay for the CityLink project that connected them as well as for widening.

Technically, the PA-NJ Turnpike bridge was never tolled and still isn't tolled. Maintenance of the bridge is shared by both the NJTA & the PTC, but no toll is dedicated solely for the bridge.

And to clarify, I was originally referring to the Scudder Falls Bridge.

NJ Turnpike works it into their toll structure, though. Going from exit 7 to exit 4 or 5 is a lower toll than going from exit 7 to exit 6.

The westbound ramp toll from exit 6A is also awfully high ($3.00) for traffic about to leave the road it's paying for. If we cut this in half there is an implied $1.50 each way "bridge toll", which is also roughly what the surcharge for traffic to/from exit 6 is.
