The Road Moved, but the Signs Didn't

Along with NM 6563, Sacramento Canyon Road, (Otero County Road C-001) is an important north-sound connection in the Lincoln National Forrest. The old road was built right along the Sacramento River; the road which replaced it has a higher speed design and it's built up out of the river flat. As part of the reconstruction, the intersection with County Road C-003 was dramatically reconfigured.

Though the pavement was removed years ago, several route markers remain along the road's old alignment.

The road's old alignment can still be faintly seen behind the county road marker. The guardrail is along the newer alignment

This sign had a couple of lives before being put out to pasture.

C-003 also provides access to Forest Service Road 90; this old marker was also left at the old intersection.

Here's a look at the new intersection featuring new C-003 and FS 90 markers.

Are there any similar instances near you?

I have some photos of some leftover KY 169 signs from when that road's intersection with US 68 was realigned, and something similar with a road intersecting US 460.

My goodness, Whitesburg, KY is full of old KY 15 signage.  Even though there was an attempt to call some of it Business 15, you see standard KY 15 signage all over that town.

I Believe all the old signs for US 35 and US 24 are still up, even though the roadway was realigned, with the old segment removed.

There's an old JCT US 62 assemply on old, old 65 north of Harrison.

Supposedly an "ancient" AR 100 cutout near Bentonville before US 71 got rerouted, but I've never been able to locate it.

Allow me to clarify my original intent: This thread was intended to highlight instances in which the road (asphalt, pavement, concrete, etc.) was removed, but the signage wasn't. Unfortunately, I'm sure we can agree that it's too common for routes to be moved but signage remains on old alignments.

Old I-44 in MO where it was realigned about 10 years ago. The Joplin MO billboards for the Petro are still up.

One example I've shown in the past involves the only true highway metering lights in New Jersey: Leaving Harrahs Casino in Atlantic City, the ramp used to go thru the two ramp metering lights shown here:  https://goo.gl/maps/Q1W2hxbGNr12 .  The interchange was slightly modified as shown, but the light assemblies still exist (unused, of course).

When exit 7 on I-565 got redone, the intersection of County Line Road and Madison Boulevard was moved north a few hundred feet. However, the "Entering Madison County" sign just of the east of the intersection wasn't moved to Madison Boulevard's new alignment. It might still be there, I'll have to check the next time I head through that area and maybe get a picture as well.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

There was still at least one SOUTH US 49 -> marker in downtown Clarksdale, MS when I was there in October even though that road was rerouted onto the US 61 bypass several years ago.
