To that you can add "Oregon State to go to the Rose Bowl!".  January 1st, 1965 was the last time the Beavers played in that bowl game.  They lost to Michigan 34-7.  Funny thing: OSU scored first!  Tommy Prothro was the coach and since he did so well in Corvallis, someone at UCLA figured he would do great in LA.  Prothro moved on.

OSU has the distinction of winning just one Rose Bowl and the game was not even played in Pasadena!  Due to the attack on Pearl Harbor, OSU's game with Duke was moved to Durham NC.  The Blue Devils went down by a count of 20-16.

Waiting over half a century for a return to the Rose Bowl is getting into Chicago Cubs territory...LOL!

Odd. I just took US 65 from Des Moines to Minneapolis and found these stores called "Target" up there. Lots of red.

I-80 is now open from Des Moines to Davenport, but I can't wait for the new bridge to open at Le Claire so you don't have to drive through Davenport, Bettendorf, and Moline (is that area called the Tri-Cities, Quad Cities, or Quint Cities?) on the way to Chicago.

And I just picked up a map at Texaco and can't believe Iowa 60 doesn't turn into Minnesota 60. You have Iowa 60 becoming Missouri 5 and Minn. 60 becoming Iowa 33.

I could have answered "yes" to that question as late as 1991.

Well I'm sheltered...thought that was a thing of the past by the late-1960s!

We had 7-digit dialing in the Bay Area for years, even after the 415/650 split!!!  I think only about two or three years ago did that finally go away for people in the SF and San Mateo County regions.

In many areas (and most metros) today, when area codes run out of numbers instead of splitting them up they overlay a new area code onto it. In my case, I could do 7-digit dialing in the 801 area code until around 2008, but then 385 was added to the 801 area, so now 10-digits are required.
