There's nothing in the rules in Scott5114's OP that explicitly disallows this. I've done it a few times (played the same city, just with a different sign) and no one called me out on it. I don't really care to do it often, since I'm more about variety, but it's not against the rules as they currently stand.

For clarity, it is allowed (since the purpose of the game is to get people taking and posting road photos), but it's best to allow some time to elapse between playings to keep the variety of photos interesting.

Should we retire this game and start a similar one (my idea: the two cities must be connected by a single route)? It's been over a year and almost 150 pages of the same thing over and over. With this game, many signs can almost never be played because they start with a letter that almost never occurs (B, V, J), or are discouraged from being played because they end in a letter that is frowned upon with no other city name in the photo (E, X, Y).

^ Why not just start a new game and see if it takes off?  What you are suggesting does sound interesting, however, having names needing to be conencted to the same route has it's drawbacks as well.  For most people who play the game, their collection of photos is generally limited to small (or several small) geographical areas.  Routes starting out, say, in the northeast would be difficult to play for someone in Minnesota.  Canadian (or other international) communities would be difficult to play.

But all that said, why not start a thread?  The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn't take off like this one did.

Exactly. There's no reason this thread needs to be retired just to start a similar one with different rules. If it's a good idea, then it will take on a life of its own, and it will either exist alongside this one, or one of the two will wither and die on its own merits.
