So since we are all road enthusiasts, cars come along for the fun. So I ask the community here, what is your dream car that you would want to drive down your favorite roadways?

For me, if it wasn't illegal, I'd have a Nissan Skyline GTR R-34 V-SPEC

But since I'll probably never get one, I have to go with the more legal Mitsubishi Evo X

Okay
If I could buy any new car today:

Buick Regal Turbo with 6-speed manual

I'd also like to get a Pontiac G8 GT with 6-speed manual

This would be my dream- a perfectly restored 1970 Chevrolet Pickup with 3 speed on the column

As far as things I can't easily get in the US? Always been a fan of the Citroen XM

You can get an Alfa Romeo 164S in the US, and I do aspire to own one of those one day- besides Saabs those are the only two foreign cars I have any interest in

My realistic dream right now? Ford Focus S with 5-speed manual

Just wondering, why the X and not the more-power-potential VIII or IX?

Mine would be a 2007 BMW M5 wagon with its 500 HP V10 engine. Like several cars posted already, it isn't available in the US, so I'd "settle" for the sedan version, which can already be bought for under $30,000. However, I'm perfectly happy with my Prelude SH on curvy roads.

I honestly like the X bumper and chassis look. My friend's brother-in-law has an Evo X that's modded to surpass the IX. Of course I'd love an IX, but the X is my #1

Sanctimoniously

Semi-realistically:

Ford Fusion wagon with a manual. Since the Euro-market Mondeo and NA-market Fusion are the same vehicle now, I see no reason why this couldn't happen. I'll even take one without the manual, in which case I would go with an AWD model.

If I won the Powerball (which I didn't today, damn and blast), or was really rich/famous/etc.:

Aston Martin Vanquish. I would drive back and forth through tunnels, with the windows down, accelerating, lifting, and downshifting at random just to hear the exhaust. Nothing sounds as good as an Aston Martin V12.

My only problem is that there were no Sport Fury GT's after 1971. They would've looked nice with some "rallye lights" next to the hideaway headlights.

does this include right-hand-drive vehicles?

I have seen one right-hand-drive vehicle in the US - it was a Datsun 240Z or 260Z; I can't remember.

^ yes, unless your state disallows it. 1996-98 R33 Skylines are allowed to be imported as long as they're brought to US standards. I've seen a couple RHDs in my time, but can't remember what. I know two people who are planning to convert their cars (one a Prelude, the other an Integra) to RHD, but I find it a colossal waste of money considering you get exactly zero performance gain from it. (There are some here who consider modding cars in general a colossal waste of money, but still...)

Sounds sort of tame but I would love the VW T5 camper TDI with 6 speed manual.  VW rebrands the Dodge Caravan here... just really lame... I do like the Jetta Sportswagon TDI with a 6 speed manual as far as available in the USA... we really need more diesels here.  I have emailed Ford to complain but they say "Americans dont want Diesels but check out our line of hybrids..." Bullshit!

They're quite truck-ish, from some of the Top Gear reviews I've heard. Sort of how you really had to be a bit of an athlete to drive a Countach, 288 GTO, or Testarossa from the mid-1980s; heavy steering, clutch pedal, harsh gated shifters, and the skills of a professional to drive them at anything over 6/10ths.

That said, the first car I ever wanted as a kid was a Lamborghini Countach, but today I'd probably prefer (if money no object) whatever the latest Porsche 911 turbo they make today with a manual transmission...I don't keep up with the latest exotics like I used to.

I suppose a good road trip vehicle would be something that could handle real luggage and have some room to spread out. I think a Lexus GS 350 would be nice, 'twere I to come into a decent pay raise...

That's a '71 or '72, most likely a '72.  Very, very nice truck.  You don't often see them restored to that condition.

Mine would be something from the late '50s, with huge fins, lots of chrome and two tone paint.  Maybe a DeSoto or something like that.  Pretty much anything from '55-'59.

Yeah, I actually prefer the 70 grille but couldn't find a good enough picture in 20 seconds of googling.

I read in a car magazine a month or two ago that the new 911 Turbo won't/doesn't have a manual transmission. Something to do with no clutches they wanted to use being able to handle the power, which is utter crap.

That's part of the appeal of the M5 wagon for me, if, you know, I could import one without risking it being seized and crushed.* My second choice for a sporty wagon is the current generation Acura TSX, but, of course, only the sedan is available in the US with a manual.

*Many states have exemptions to/lax enforcement of importing vehicles; Florida in particular has a high number of formerly JDM cars from what I've seen, and I know of a Civic Type-R and a Prelude Type-S here in Virginia.

I have a short list of cars I want, but I can't really say I have a 'dream' car anymore.  There is not a single new car I have any interest in at all.  Absolutely everything is hideous and vastly over-tech'd.
