I think the longest distance on the US Highway system between junctions with part of the Interstate system goes to US 101. Almost 1200 miles from I-5 in Olympia to I-580 just north of San Francisco.

Some others with significant distance, and feel free to add.

- US 395 has about 560 miles from I-84 in Pendleton, OR to I-80 in Reno, NV

- US 2 has about 460 miles from I-15 in Shelby, MT until meeting I-90 in Spokane, WA

US 90, about 445 miles from I-10 in Van Horn TX to I-410 west of San Antonio.

US 20, about 490 miles from I-25 in Wyoming to I-129 near Sioux City IA.

US 2, about 740 miles east from I-15 near Shelby MT to I-29 in Grand Forks ND.

US 101, about 350 miles south from I-280/680 in San Jose CA to I-405 in Sherman Oaks CA.

US 98, about 425 miles from I-110 in Pensacola FL to I-75 near Brooksville FL.

US 12 is about 500 miles from I-94 at Miles City to I-29 in South Dakota.

US 89

US 40 has about 430 miles from its western terminus at I-80 at Silver Creek Junction, UT to its junction with I-70 near Empire, CO.

While US 350 is only 73 miles long (thus way shorter than the examples given), it doesn't intersect any Interstates on its route. US 550 also had this distinction before 1998.

Now more in line with the thread, in addition to the segments mentioned above US 2 has another 425 mile segment between I-35 in Duluth MN and the Eastern terminus of its Western iteration at I-75 in St. Ignace MI.

Not too many examples in the east with how close interstates are, but here's one:

US 6: 307 miles between I-79 and I-81/476

Without looking I would assume that US-2 between I-75 and I-35 is just as long as US-2 between I-15 and I-90.

I just mentioned US-2 between Duluth and St. Ignace before I saw this post. I wasn't sure on the mileage and didn't really feel like looking it up.

How about longest stub ends too?  US-41 from I-41 near Green Bay to the end at Copper Harbor is just about 320 miles.

US-191 north from I-94 is a little shorter, about 290 miles.

US-12: 361 miles from I-182 in the Tri-Cities of Washington to I-90 in Missoula, MT
US-95: 418 miles from I-15/I-515 in Las Vegas to I-80 north of Fallon (entirely in Nevada)
US-93: 398 miles from I-15 northeast of Las Vegas to I-80 in Wells (entirely in Nevada)

US 6: 307 miles between I-79 and I-81/476

This will be cut once I-99 is signed South of the NY/PA line, as it is set to intersect US 6 at Mansfield.

I had thought of US 1 in Maine: 325 miles between I-295 in Brunswick and I-95 in Houlton.

And one that surely will surprise the most: US 30, 460 miles from where it leaves I-80 in Pine Bluffs WY across all of Nebraska to I-29 near Missouri Valley IA. It parallels the aforementioned I-80 for over 300 miles without ever crossing it, so it may get overlooked.

US380 stays south of I-27 and north of I-20 to make it about 610 miles from San Antonio, NM to Denton, Texas.

US380 - around 610 miles from I-25 near San Antonio, NM to I-35 in Denton, TX.  I think that's currently #3 on our list.

Edit - Beaten by a minute!

Also, US93 runs for about 380 miles between Twin Falls, ID and Missoula.

More edits.

US212 from Crow Agency, MT (I-90) to Watertown, SD (I-29) - 565 miles.

It doesn't hit another interstate at one end, but you can drive 480 miles on US160 between Cameron, AZ and Walsenburg, CO and its connection with I-25.

US 113 is about 75 miles and iirc it's the longest US route that never touches an interstate (163 still technically does)
- US 50 from where it leaves I-15 to I-380 near Carson city is right at 500 miles
- US 6 from where it leaves I-15 to Bishop is a little over 500 miles.
- US 19 from I-10 to I-475 is 235 miles (a side note, I wonder why 19 ends immediately at its junction with 41 instead of using 301 to sarasota)
- US 95 from I-80 to Las Vegas is 417 miles. 93 is 397 miles.
- US 212 from I-90 to I-29 is 565 (!) miles.
- US 54 from I-40 to Wichita is 416 miles, from east of Wichita to I-70 it's 354 miles.

Edit- I see I get beat to some of these too.
Just a reminder that US 6, 49, 50, and 98 are superior to your fave routes :)

US-56 from Business I-25 in Springer NM to I-135 in McPherson KS is 433 miles.
US-50 from I-25 in Pueblo CO to I-135 in Newton KS is 424 miles.
US-54 from I-40 in Tucumcari to I-235 in Wichita is 416 miles.

Surprisingly, going from I-40 either north or south along US-183 or US-283 to either I-70 or I-20 respectively is only about 300 miles no matter which way you go. It looks longer than that on a map.

Came here to post this one. It's actually I-580, and the junction is inside Carson City. I got 501 miles (had to manually adjust the Goog's route to stay on US 50 near Hinckley, UT).

Ok I'll try again, since it seems like coastal routes are the best bet.

US 17: about 400 miles between I-526 and I-64 (I-40 ends before meeting US 17 in Wilmington).

True but it does intersect I-140 in Wilmington

Can't believe I missed one basically in my own backyard.

US 97 has 342 miles between  I-84 in Biggs Junction, OR and I-5 in Weed, CA

AFAIK US 163 was officially truncated in 2008, so it doesn't touch an Interstate anymore. Anyway it is shorter than both 113 and 350.

This one was probably missed because it overlaps with so many routes:

US 412 from I-35 to its western terminus is 430 miles

US 26 from Idaho Falls to 25 in Glenrock is 418 miles. But this is counting where it passes under 25 in Casper without access and an overlap with an interstate business route.

Just a reminder that US 6, 49, 50, and 98 are superior to your fave routes :)

Nvm I found the 2 East of the Mississippi winners for this thread from looking at their intersections list, both have been mentioned already though:

US 2 between I-35 and I-75: 424 mi
US 98 between I-110 and I-75: 422 mi
