I know it's not a US route, but this question wasn't answered when I asked it before a few years ago.

How do we treat I-690/NY 5? Do they "touch"?

How do you measure through Yellowstone? I can't but US 287 is more than 400 miles from I-80 and I-90
Just a reminder that US 6, 49, 50, and 98 are superior to your fave routes :)

I don't think they do they get close where US-11 crosses them but they still aren't really touching each other.

Google maps measure tool. Yes it takes a lot of time to get it really precise, but I've done it for fictional exit lists in one of my threads before.

I tried that but when I try to edit my route over it won't let me or either it takes a drastically long route that avoids yellowstone

I'm talking about NY 5's corner where it turns at the terminus of NY 290, about 500 feet away. Does it "touch" I-690 (without an exit, obviously) there? You're going to need satellite view.

IIRC, US 287 (like other US routes) doesn't officially exist within Yellowstone. The "missing" mileage within the park will reduce your number for the segments north and south of the park, even if it's legit to combine them for this game.

The high entrance fees at Yellowstone, as well as its low speed limits, might explain why Google balks at letting you route through the park.

I mean, using the ruler tool. For this thread, it doesn't have to be very precise, but for my fictional exits numbers, it had to because it's exit numbers.

According to usends, the yellowstone segment is 68.8 miles.
So including this portion, between 1-90 and I-80 in Rawlins, US 287 is 470 miles.

An example that isn't, but could have been, if YT 1 were renumbered: 2,122 miles for US 97 from I-90 to I-A1

US 1 in Florida goes about 245 miles without intersecting an Interstate, between I-595 in Fort Lauderdale and I-95 in Ormond Beach.

US 441 runs about 222 miles between I-595 and I-4.

Both obviously are not near the longest nationwide, but surprisingly long for where they're at (especially US 1 being within a very short distance of I-95 the whole time).

There is an on-ramp to I-690 at McBride and an off-ramp at Townsend very, very close to NY 5 (Erie Blvd).

That said, I believe the McBride ramp will be removed and replaces with ramps at Crouse and Irving during the I-81 project.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because the roads in Yellowstone are closed in the winter. Most of them, anyway.

The winner is obviously US-101 between Tumwater, WA and San Rafael, CA at 1,056 miles.

What about US 98 from I-75 at a Ridge Manor to I-110 in Pensacola?  That is longer yet for that state.

Already mentioned thrice upthread. But yes well over 400 miles.

No one's mentioned it, and it's not a record winner, but US 285 runs about 372 miles between I-25 in Denver and I-25 in Santa Fe. It's a scenic (and shorter) non-interstate route between the two cities.
So many miles and so many roads

Another one that doesn't quite make the 'Over 400 List' I made upthread is US101 (again) between I-680/I-280 and I-405 at 366 miles.

US 26 from Idaho Falls to 25 in Glenrock is 418 miles. But this is counting where it passes under 25 in Casper without access and an overlap with an interstate business route.

It looks like it has an exit to I-25 South to me.

By far the longest in the Great Lakes region is 425ish miles: US-2 between I-35 at Duluth and I-75 at St. Ignace. It crosses four state borders over that span.

US 17: about 400 miles between I-526 and I-64 (I-40 ends before meeting US 17 in Wilmington).
True but it does intersect I-140 in Wilmington

And FWIW, at some point in the future US 17 will intersect (and overlap) I-42 & I-87 as well.
