Check this out in 1994 Harvey Levin was a street reporter for KCBS 2 News but 10 years later he became the Tabloid Czar for TMZ @ 11:00 min of the clip

But 20 years ago I-10, CA-118, I-5 and CA-14 were damaged in the quake. The Rest showed other damage in San Fernando Valley and Injured or Dead Bodies being pulled out of soft story Buildings.

Back when I had a youtube account, I uploaded a 3:55 long video of news broadcasts from the Northridge Quake that aired on both CNN and in the Philadelphia market. The main reason why I taped it then was because it was mostly road scenes (most specifically the interchange between Interstate 5 and California 14). Still have that on my PC here.

But wait Its Crazy that Southern California has had many quakes 6.x and up in the past 20 years, Landers in 1992, Northridge 1994,  Hector mine in 1999, Central Coast in 2003, and 2010 Imperial Valley/ Mexicali Quake.

But also Northern California in the Humboldt County has had quakes like this at 6.x and above in 1992 and 2010.


The Crazy part is in the Bay Area and Sacramento we are the least prepared for quakes out of all the places in California (With Exception of the New East Bay Bridge and 2003-Present Al Zampa and 2007 Benicia Bridge). I am a Bay Area Resident but also communte to Sacramento for Work and School Reasons know we are the least prepared of California for Quakes.

I noticed initially USGS said "CA-118 Simi Valley/ President Reagan Freeway Epicenter of the 1994 Quake"

But I'm not sure how KPCC managed to determine that this guys house/ Backyard is the Epicenter of the Quake.

Its kind of Like Loma Prieta some Bay Area Media outlets said CA-17 in the Santa Cruz County or Santa Clara County was the epicenter and some said somebody's house near CA-17 was the epicenter.

But I'm not sure how KPCC managed to determine that this guys house/ Backyard is the Epicenter of the Quake.

I knew there had to be a range of 5-10 miles to get the closest location to the epicenter but there had to be an error rate +/- 5% to get a location like that.

More importantly, even if 118.537°W is entirely correct, that could mean anything from 118.5365°W to 118.5375°W. That's a range of 0.001° or about 360 feet at that latitude, which is wider than said backyard.

I went through that earthquake; my then-roommate and I were nearly thrown out of our beds.
