Does anyone pick up road signs?

I was biking home today and saw a sign for North Loop 1 that had been knocked over.  I picked it up and set it against another sign.  Treating it almost like a wounded friend.  Anyone else here do crazy things like that?

I rather not get criminally fined for stealing a $500 sign.  If I see one down, I'll notify a worker if I see one (if I'm biking).
Take the road less traveled.

Well I WAS on my bike and clearly lifting it up :)  If you can carrying a sign on a post (almost too heavy too pick up) on the back of your bike, I sure would love to see that!

But it didn't sound like stealing.

When I was up in Boston, I came upon a wooden sign that was off its post in the northernmost MA 2/16/US 3 rotary. I set it back upright facing traffic, but it was gone soon thereafter. Would've been an interesting ride back on the T if I decided to hold onto it.

I'll also try to unbend bent signposts (sometimes fairly successful, actually) and rotate loose signs back in the proper orientation.

A few of the signs in my sign collection were liberated from the bottom of a ditch.

I have one or two I "liberated" from a ditch, but most of mine are Flea Market/e-bay finds, plus a couple I got through Jake.

A couple months ago, I saw a fallen sign cluster face down in the mud near Neosho, MO. I rolled it over as best I could and sent a message to MoDOT.

We propped this sign up for the photo and left it that way.

Once also found a parish shield hanging upside down, which we righted for a photo. I am sure the first gust of wind reverted it to its previous state.

I picked up a cute road sign at the club last night. She sure knew how to I-69!
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Wonder if there's any way you could rig a sign back to its post with zip ties until the DOT can get there to repair it.

When I was going to college at NIU back in the 90's, there was an arrow sign that had fallen off its post and after seeing it lie there for several days, I picked it up one night and walked it right to my dorm room.  It was a decoration til the end of my time at college.  People used to make jokes about it and how it looked like an appendage.   I believe my parents still have it somewhere, but I'm not sure where it ended up.

If the post was u-channel or tubular steel, that should be feasible, unless the sign is wooden and was split in two.

... so THIS is where the pick up lines thread originated.

I did exactly that several months again on Ritchie Hwy (MD 2) near Ordinance Rd (MD 710). It was the sign pointing to MD 10. I leaned it against the sign pointing to I-695, kinda interweaving it between the 3 signs. Still readable though. It's still like that, checked last week.
Call me Kenny/Kenneth. No, seriously.
