Quote from: Amaury on May 18, 2023, 06:00:47 PMOn westbound Interstate 90 at Exit 84, the Exit 84 sign in the gore point is lying on the ground mangled.

The Exit 84 gore point sign on westbound I-90 is in the process of being fixed. There's a brand new post that's been installed, like this one: https://goo.gl/maps/Ut4rMVcd3cfe2bA5A I don't know if the exit sign itself is repairable, though, so they may be having to make a completely new sign.

On Interstate 90 eastbound, the exit gore point signs still need to be replaced for Exits 63, 78, and 101.

For Exit 78 eastbound, the post is still there and just needs the sign put on it: https://goo.gl/maps/aWmLs6gQ72CztSU4A

* Exit 101 gore point eastbound sign when it was still standing: https://goo.gl/maps/NddCoej6XUQptbPa9

Interstate 90 westbound Exit 84 gore point sign is fully repaired now. Interstate 90 eastbound Exit 78 gore point sign has been re-installed to the post.

On Interstate 90 westbound at Exit 31, the Exit 31 gore point sign needs to be repaired: https://i.imgur.com/C94SP5C.jpg

Looks like this happened very recently, as the latest capture from July 2023 still shows it standing: https://goo.gl/maps/EDmA3hXkAsnkpnnJ6 Based on the blackened post, it looks like a small brush fire happened.

At the westbound only Interstate 90 entrance at the western terminus of Washington State Route 906, the "Freeway Entrance" sign on the right needs to be straightened up:

This one is in Ellensburg on US Route 97 southbound, before milepost 135, just after the railroad tracks that are just past the four-way stop there: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yeViqPdaCY46ixMc9

Looks to have just happened recently, as I noticed the post wasn't there while reviewing my drive to Cashmere yesterday. They were working on the railroad tracks a few weeks ago. I wonder if something happened then by accident.

Quote from: Amaury on August 15, 2023, 07:19:51 PMI don't know how, but the overhead sign for Exit 63 being ahead in one mile on Interstate 90 westbound was somehow very recently damaged. It was just fine the other day: https://goo.gl/maps/tHJ4EfsbZ7B3Yvk46

It's just before milepost 65. And while writing this, I also discovered that just a few feet up, the travel information sign, which also has mile marker 65 attached to it, is lying on the ground.

Standing: https://goo.gl/maps/sfjFUfpo5AAuGVwB7
Not standing: https://goo.gl/maps/jRQhRW1uhnHGKRY68

Looks like it was already leaning backward in that last capture of it still standing.

I got a personal photo of the travel information sign on Tuesday:

The post with the four signs was gone the day after I took the photo, so it was picked up pretty quickly, which further makes me believe that 1) it was fairly recently and 2) whatever caused it, they knew about it right away, such as something potentially happening by accident while they were working on the railroad tracks.

Quote from: Amaury on July 21, 2023, 07:52:04 PMOn Interstate 82 eastbound before Exit 30, there was a crash sometime after June 28, the last time I went by the area, and everything was fine then.

Take note of what things look like here:

Now, I just drove down there today to check out the fire damage from a fire yesterday that burned in the area–not in the direct area, but in the county. After milepost 20 on eastbound I-82, there's an area that's all black. I went to turn around at Exit 30, and what do I see?

As mentioned, the smaller sign and the light pole had already been repaired, and now the big sign for Exit 30 has been repaired! So, everything from whatever crash is repaired now! Yay!

I have submitted my second official report to the WSDOT email. These are the signs I reported in this one.

QuoteHello again, [REDACTED FOR PRIVACY]! I hope you are doing well. First, I just wanted to say thank you so much to you and your crew, as a lot of the signs from my first report back in April have been repaired or replaced. Only a few remain, and I think two of those are already in the process of being repaired, as I noticed they were picked up a few months ago in Kittitas by your sign crew. I guess now it's just a matter of finding the time and such.

Anyway, before significant snow starts falling and it halts construction projects for you guys, as well as sign repairs, for the season, I wanted to go ahead and submit one more report this year of more signs needing repairs. Some have been needing repairs for a while, and some happened after my last report. Just like last time, I have created an album on my Imgur with photos (in the same order as below) of the signs needing repairs for your crew to use: https://imgur.com/a/A3gQ7gG

Some of the photos come from Google Maps. There will be a button at the bottom of the album to load the last four images.

1.   On Interstate 90 Westbound, after milepost 140, just past the viewpoint, your yellow cautionary signs warning semis of the 5% grade and the 50 MPH curve at the bottom of the hill on both sides of the freeway need to be repaired. The one on the left is laying facedown on the ground, where you can also see the supports still standing, and the one on the right needs to be replaced, as only the cement bases are there. I have provided two photos for this one, one when they were both still standing and one in their current state. See the album photos titled "Interstate 90 Westbound After Milepost 140 Cautionary Before" and "Interstate 90 Westbound After Milepost 140 Cautionary Currently."

2.   On Interstate 90 Westbound, just before Exit 137, there are two signs that need repairs. Your "Severe Side Wind Ahead for 2 Miles" sign, and then on your gantry, your overhead sign on the right for Exit 137 is missing two panels on the top-right, the panels containing "137" and "TO." For both signs, see the album photo titled "Interstate 90 Westbound Before Exit 137."

3.   On Interstate 90 Westbound, at milepost 137, the milepost 137 sign itself needs to be repaired. It is currently leaning against the guardrail. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 90 Westbound Milepost 137."

4.   On Interstate 90 Westbound, after milepost 135, your "State Law All Vehicles Keep Right Except to Pass" sign on the left side of the freeway needs to be repaired. It's just past the apple maggot quarantine sign before the guardrail ends. See the album photo titled "Interstate 90 Westbound State Law Sign After Milepost 135."

5.   In Thorp (I-90 Exit 101), just before the Westbound entrance for Interstate 90, the big green guide sign saying to turn right for I-90 West Seattle or go straight for I-90 East Ellensburg needs to be replaced. It looks like it's been needing replacement for a while. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 90 Westbound Entrance Guide Sign in Thorp."

6.   Also in Thorp (I-90 Exit 101), on the Eastbound entrance ramp for Interstate 90, the "Freeway Entrance" sign on the left needs to be replaced. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Freeway Entrance Sign at Exit 101."

7.   On Interstate 90 Eastbound, your Exit 63 sign at the gore point needs to be replaced. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Exit 63 Gore Point Sign."

8.   On Interstate 90 Eastbound, your Exit 101 sign at the gore point needs to be replaced. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Exit 101 Gore Point Sign."

9.   On Interstate 90 Eastbound, just before milepost 127, your control city sign has vandalism on it that needs to be cleaned off. See the album photo titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Control City Sign Vandalism Before Milepost 127."

10.   On Interstate 90 Eastbound, at milepost 131, the milepost 131 sign itself has vandalism on it that needs to be cleaned off. See the album photo titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Milepost 131 Vandalism."

11.   On Interstate 90 Eastbound, just past Exit 136, your "Severe Side Wind Ahead" sign on the left side of the freeway needs to be repaired. See the album photo titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Severe Side Wind Sign After Exit 136."

12.   On Interstate 90 Eastbound, also just past Exit 136, your Interstate 90 shield, needs to be replaced on the signpost. See the album photo titled "Interstate 90 Eastbound Missing Interstate 90 Shield After Exit 136."

13.   On Interstate 82 Westbound, at Exit 11, on the Westbound entrance ramp, the "Freeway Entrance" sign on the left was burned by a brushfire and needs to be repaired. See the album photo titled "Interstate 82 Westbound Freeway Entrance Sign at Exit 11."

14.   On Interstate 82 Eastbound, at milepost 14, the milepost 14 sign itself needs to be replaced. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 82 Eastbound Milepost 14."

15.   On Interstate 82 Eastbound, just past Exit 26, your "merge ahead" sign needs to be replaced. See the album photo from when it was still standing titled "Interstate 82 Eastbound Merge Ahead Sign After Exit 26."

16.   On Interstate 82 Eastbound, also just past Exit 26 at milepost 27, the milepost 27 sign itself needs to be repaired. Only its broken post remains. It's at the end of the entrance ramp before the first light pole. See the album photo titled "Interstate 82 Eastbound Milepost 27 Sign After Exit 26."

17.   On US Route 97 Northbound, just past milepost 1, your "Welcome to Washington" sign needs to be repaired. It is lying down on the ground on the other side of the guardrail. See the album photo titled "US Route 97 Northbound Washington Sign After Milepost 1."

18.   On Washington State Route 243 Southbound, just before milepost 10, your gas, food, and lodging next right sign needs to be repaired. See the album photo titled "SR 243 Southbound Before Milepost 10."

I realize that given the time of year it is, it's obvious that only some of these will be able to be repaired before the full brunt of winter weather comes, and that is obviously perfectly understandable and okay! I just wanted to get one more report in this year so that you guys can log these in your system. Whatever doesn't get repaired in the short amount of time we have before winter weather can be repaired in the spring. =)

I hope you have a wonderful day and happy holidays! You guys are awesome!

Best regards,

Not my state, but apparently TDOT is aware that this sign for Exit 1 on I-65 needs fixing/replacing as the damaged corner had a "Damaged" sticker stuck on it when I went by yesterday.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

There are a lot of state-maintained roads needing repairs in Michigan. Whether there are signs on them or not.

Sorry, I didn't turn on my sarcasm flag. When the thread topic changed so that "That Need Repairs" is so far from "Signs" it struck me as funny.

Back on track:  BGSs on Michigan freeways are usually in good condition, but that is not nearly so often the case on non-freeway trunklines (except at freeway interchanges when part of a freeway sign replacement project).  Lots of surface trunkline BGSs are either left in faded and weathered condition, or are removed with inadequate replacement signage in their place.

Here's an aggravating one that is the result of a repair.  The I-96 route shield disappeared.  A decision to eliminate the assembly is one thing, but for someone to install a speed limit sign and then consciously not remove the JCT tab is the height of idiocy.

And almost a month later, this exact sign has been crashed into again. I'm starting to think a guardrail should be installed on this exit to protect the signs, like in some other areas, since people clearly do not know how to negotiate this simple exit. I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but it was sometime within the last week.

These ones don't technically need repairs, as looking at all the available images from Google Maps for each area, it doesn't look like the signs were ever installed to begin with for some reason, but I will go ahead and mention them.

On Interstate 90 eastbound, there is no exit sign at the gore point for Exit 110, the exit for I-82 eastbound, despite there being one for the westbound side.

Westbound: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6e7fhU4VoUrsrRKt6

Both sides do have the whatchacallit saying the exit is right there.

On US Route 2 in both directions, at the Stevens Pass summit, which also serves as the line for Chelan and King Counties, there are no "Entering King County" and "Entering Chelan County" signs for westbound and eastbound, respectively.

On Washington State Route 20 in both directions:
There are no "Entering Chelan County" and "Entering Okanogan County" signs for westbound and eastbound, respectively.
There are no "Entering Skagit County" and "Entering Chelan County" signs for westbound and eastbound, respectively.
There are no "Entering Whatcom County" and "Entering Skagit County" signs for westbound and eastbound, respectively.

For that last one, WA 20 actually enters both Skagit and Whatcom Counties two times, once before or after milepost 117, depending on which direction you're heading, and once before or after milepost 146, depending on which direction you're heading. There are no county line signs for Whatcom/Skagit at the county border near milepost 146. The other county border does have signs.

On US Route 12 westbound, at the Vaugn Hubbard Bridge, there is no "Entering Franklin County" sign. They could just have a post with the county line sign and the already-existing Pasco sign here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uFhwrPCgyGTjB3nz9

On Interstate 182, US Route 395, and Washington State Route 397, there are no "Entering Benton County" and "Entering Franklin County" signs for westbound and eastbound, respectively, and for southbound and northbound, respectively. I'm just going to share an overall map thing for this one showing the border: https://maps.app.goo.gl/N3XcQwwryUX72cg19

On Interstate 82 in both directions, there are no milepost 24 posts installed. Mile 24 is on the Fred G. Redmon Memorial Bridge.

As I understand it, unless absolutely necessary, DOTs don't like installing signs on bridges. That's why what I've seen WSDOT do with signs like county line signs, for example, is they'll either install the signs both on one side of a bridge, such as at the border for Whitman and Garfield Counties on WA 127, or they'll install the signs before the bridge for each respective side. The second one is more common. For example, on US Route 97 northbound, the "Entering Chelan County" sign is before crossing the Beebe Bridge, respectively. Likewise, for the "Entering Douglas County" sign, it is before crossing the Beebe Bridge on US Route 97 southbound. The county border for these counties, and many other counties, is technically in the middle of the bridge. In the case for mile 24, they could install mile marker 24s to the already-existing sign posts being used for the Fred G. Redmon Bridge signs before the bridge in both directions.

On Washington State Route 261 in both directions, at the Lyons Ferry Bridge, there are no county lines installed for Franklin and Columbia Counties. Northbound and southbound, respectively: https://maps.app.goo.gl/b7vHpmA1XhMDXioC8
