^  My theory is that, as the signs get stolen, they get replaced with progressively uglier ones in hopes of reaching the point where they're left alone.  Same as the "M-22 effect" in Michigan.

Again with the Japanese warning road signs;

Now it's obvious that the sign on the bottom is a falling rocks warning sign, but am I right to assume the one on the top is an avalanche warning sign?

Strong icy winds? Frostbite kamikaze?

(Kidding aside: なだれ indeed means avalanche and 注意 means caution.)

D-Dey65

Yeah, that's what I thought. Nobody added that category to the image in Wikimedia commons until I did early this morning.

Both routes are concurrent. Yet only one route per direction.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

The sign inventory method as seen in a small place card beneath the assembly.

That's not a sign inventory method, that's a reference marker. (County #58, control section #12). Sometimes there's a third line with the mileage on it (I'm guessing it was omitted here because it's at 0.00 or close to it).

The left turn panel for SB Niagara Falls Blvd being blank is odd here on WB Sheridan Drive at Niagara Falls Blvd in Buffalo.

Less-than-great arrow design, round 2 (the sign on the left):

If you look at earlier captures, it's just that the bottom screw fell out.

The missing screw caused the number to disappear and the arrow to shrink and point downward?

It is a different sign.

Look closely, though, especially from the back, and you can see the hole where the screw used to be.

That screw still would not fix 95% of the issues with that sign.

Two exits here for the same road.

Also to note the left exit is numbered 2B while the right exit is numbered 2C.

This may be a reference marker system separate from the section markers with the mileages given...

US 60 at OK 10 N - 58-08
US 60 at OK 10 S - 58-09 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/EYSRSdpQvJ7LPJya8
OK 10 S next county road, 58-20-10.4 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/tePnT2svPuSmKfWM8
OK 10 N next county road, 58-24-1.7 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/X8B5jiTFfZy7SBEh8
US 60 E next county road, 58-10-17.0 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/WFposGrv7tt6Ly1p6
US 60 W next county road, 58-10-12.8

So the section numbers on US 60 and OK 10 are unrelated to the markers posted at their intersections.

meanwhile, other primary route junctions in county 58:
US 59-69 split - 58-03 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/E5kneLRfAeMisUnQ9
OK 10 at OK 10C - 58-06 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/xrFpTwFwqQRhwsrQ7
note section 58-06-1.07 is at the southwest corner of the county on US 60 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/bwFjnnWSj81uYmRR7
US 60 at OK 137 - 58-07 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/75z7mz6Wd86UyQvKA
US 59/69 at OK 25 - 58-80 - https://maps.app.goo.gl/Tud3b4X4cZV6oFtw5

No, the control section system in Oklahoma is just that fucked up. (This is the 2012 map, however, I didn't notice any relevant changes between it and the 2018 version that is available for download on the ODOT website.)

Something wacky is indeed going on with some of these control sections; as you can see a number of these control section numbers don't exist at all, and if they ever did, it was before 1978, as they don't exist on that control section map either. (The 1978 book has a foreword saying that "control section numbers with alphabetical suffixes are no longer in use to identify existing highways. All such numbers have been revised and have a new number assigned", so it's possible that that somehow affected these particular sections...or maybe ODOT just made the markers incorrectly.  I'm not falling down that particular rabbit hole, though, because usually when you start doing that in Oklahoma you start finding stupider and stupider reasons for things to be the way that they are, until you need to lie down for a while.

I can, however, state that the markers in county 44 (McClain County) are, as far as I am aware, entirely compliant with the maps, as the markers there are how I discovered the correlation between the numbers and the markers to begin with. And, in fact, the 1978 map book depicts one of the three-line reference markers on the cover, solidifying the association between the control section numbers and the reference markers.
