The link opened up slide 3, which by its description should mean all seafood restaurants shouldn't exist. In theory fast food seafood restaurants are probably safer as most likely their food is mostly frozen until needed.

Slide 10 indicates this list is either not current, or the author is really behind on the times. Here it trashes Pizza Hut. Not for the pizza, but for the long-gone salad bar:

"Everybody knows that pizza isn't a healthy option, which is why calorie-conscious consumers often opt for Pizza Hut's salads. However, that same salad is notorious for causing nausea and sickness, as the communal nature of the salad bar means it is frequently exposed to dangerous bacteria."

It's also wrong too that Red Lobster is not cheap as the article says it is.  That's why my parents stopped eating there when prices went up.  They were religious fans of the chain.  Of course Red Lobster is on the death watch now, so that article shouldn't be printed using a sinking ship to make its point.

I mean, fast food restaurants make sense to be dirty. You think the manager that's running that place for $38k a year is going to be an effective leader to uphold standards?

That slide show is totally bereft of any useful information.  It's the equivalent of a local TV news exposé during sweeps week:  "Is your lawn trying to kill you?  The story at 11!"  Yes, there have been outbreaks of salmonella, norovirus, etc.  It also happens at supermarkets and large foodservice companies, all of which presumably put a lot more effort into safe handling than does the local $38k fast food store manager.  If they have information on specific egregious locations, that's one thing.  Otherwise, what's their point?

Do you put your fork on your table at home? Do you wipe your mouth with a napkin that's been on your table at home? If you touch your kitchen table with your bare hands, do you wash them before eating anything with your fingers?

In Nevada (and I think California too, though I haven't eaten in California yet) the health department gives each restaurant a letter grade that is prominently displayed somewhere near the entrance. I don't know how useful that is, though, because I've only ever seen A certificates. That could mean everyone gets an A, or it could mean that businesses that get anything below A close down.

North Carolina has them as well, but last I checked it was a letter near the top-center of the certificate.  Not that big a deal, you just have to know where to look.
