Taking a closer look at some of these matchups for the first time and I honestly don't see a bad game on the slate. Commanders at Bucs is probably the closest to a snoozer, and the #2 overall pick will be making his NFL debut!

I don't think Illegal Formation was called enough last night. But seriously, that ending was better for Ravens fans than losing by failing another two-point conversion.

I think the Ravens will be haunted more by the "no-touchdown" at the final whistle than those illegal formation calls in their opening drive.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

It was a good game, but I feel bad for the Packers... Jordan Love (QB) got hurt within 8 seconds left of the game (third to last play of the game).

It definitely sucks, but it could've been more severe. It was only an MCL sprain. He'll only be out for about a month.

He did walk off the field under his own power, so I wasn't super concerned about it.

That's enough to get them in trouble in that division, especially considering Malik Willis is the backup QB and they're already 0-1. Their upcoming schedule is light-ish on paper, but every game is difficult when you don't have a competent starting QB.

New England Patriots kick off the Mayo era by upsetting Cincinnati, 16-10, although truthfully, the Bengals' turnovers won the day.

NWI_Irish96

I said that the Bears drafting Odunze #9 when they already had Allen and Moore, and had a really bad offensive line, was a bad idea.

Defense and special teams bailed out an offense that couldn't do anything because even the best receivers can't get open in the 0.8 seconds that it takes the pass rush to blow past that offensive line.

What do you mean here? I'm only aware of one loss by a Cleveland football team today. None of the Bengals (not Cleveland), Cleveland State University (they don't even have a team), or Ohio State (they won) seem to apply. Maybe the Columbus Crew, but that was yesterday, not today, and that would only bring it to two anyway.

Deshaun Watson has a miserable outing, while Jacoby Brissett and Baker Mayfield both shone. Guess I should have just said Cleveland NFL.

Antonio Pierce is getting fired in the next 4 months. That punt in the 4th quarter might be the most egregious coaching decision all year.

jgb191

An alarming realization for us Texans fans:  The Colts have the most number of CJ Stroud sacks than any other team in NFL History!

Last year they sacked CJ a total of nine times, and just added several more (I believe four or five more) sacks this afternoon.  And to think we have to face the Colts at least twice every season, possibly a third time should they meet in the playoffs.  Extra alarming is that Anthony Richardson, who played a whale of a game today, was only getting warmed up after missing most of last season.  Thankfully we escaped Indianapolis yet again with a 'W'.  Something tells me the Colts aren't going to get any easier when they visit Houston next month, the Colts might even have the edge in our second meeting.  I still predict a split this season, with both teams trading wins.
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

It was bad. I generally don't think internal hires based on a guy being popular in the locker room is usually a good choice.

Quote from: jlam on August 15, 2024, 09:55:09 AMI'm very tempted to fork the Vikings right now, but I'll wait to see what they do at quarterback. I'll probably find eight teams more deserving of a fork.
No you can fork the Vikings. The division is so much better than them. Even the Bears have a legit shot at a playoff spot.
Packers and Lions will fight for the division crown. Each likely 12-5. Bears I can see being 10-7 or 9-8. Vikings will be lucky to be 4-13.

I'll take that bet for the over of 4.5.

I'll still take that bet! Darnold looked pretty darn good. We'll see if he can be consistent.
