Jim

And I just crossed US 11 a couple hours ago (though in Gouverneur, NY)...  I'll be just 4 hours or so from Tuscaloosa if the trip in late July works out to include Pensacola as intended.
Photos I post are my own unless otherwise noted.

I recently travelled on a bit of US 85 near its northern end, so my new lowest untravelled number is 98. I have been on the road that at one time was MN 98, but only about 28 years after it stopped being a state highway.

My number had long been 248, but I just realized my usual route to shunpike the toll bridges crossing into PA along I-78 technically involves a very short bit of PA 248. This moves me up to......

249. Woo.

Looks like I need to take a quick side jaunt on my next trip through NW Indiana...

Thanks to a small little road trip, I traveled on FM 68, now pushing my number to 73. I also acquired 78 on the trip, which was another number I needed, so now it looks like my next numbers after 73 are 81 and 106.

Next stop, Port Arthur!

drebbin37

I drove segments of MD 381 and MD 382 (and later KY 382) during my most recent road trip, so my lowest untraveled number is now 398.

Bickendan

Got myself WA 109 (and all of US 101's child routes, save for the Edmonds portion of 104), putting me at... 111. annnnnnd I'll be stuck there for a long time, unless I can justify a trip out to SLC or down to Indio. And ODOT actually decommed ORH 124 and 125, so they're out.

US 89

I drove on US 192 in July without even thinking about the implications for this thread. That bumped me to 207, but I drove SH 207 in Texas in August, so now I am up to... 214.

I don't have any 205 in the US, but I have been on the N205 road in France, which I think counts well enough.

I clinched TN 455 on Friday so my number is now 466, which will probably not change for a while.

Just curious, as I didn't find it on a quick search. What's the lowest number that a) isn't an interstate and b) doesn't intersect an interstate? I just got to thinking about this as a lot of the numbers that I've "picked up" since playing this silly game of ours were ones that I could just easily exit off of an interstate I was traveling anyway to log a half a mile or so on the missing numbered highway. This could probably be its own thread, but it's only really "interesting" in the context of this thread since the first number that isn't adjacent to an interstate is where the collecting starts to become a little harder.

Starting my own investigation, but the lowest number that either isn't an interstate or a US Route intersecting an interstate is 28, but obviously there's a state route or ten out there that hit an interstate (started with AL28, and sure enough, intersect an interstate).

IN has 28, 32, 38, and 47 to get you through everything the interstate and US highway system don't get that is less than 100. For added convenience, you can get them all in a 28-mile stretch of I-65.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Thanks. My nerdy brain is currently running through all of them. I'm up to 222 with no misses yet. :)

Finally found it. The lowest number that doesn't have a route that intersects an interstate is 334.

Showing my work. Obviously if the number is an interstate, I noted that first. Then I went through US Routes. If there's a state route listed, it's the first state alphabetically that has a highway that intersects an interstate.

Incidentally, my only travel of a 334 is a very small stretch of MB334 that is concurrent with TCH1 in Headingley, Manitoba.

Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above
