That would probably be a good thing since it doesn't look like there are any open parcels with Buc-ees sized space at the FL-326 exit.

The new one in Smiths Grove, Ky. (north of Bowling Green) opened yesterday.

In an Indianapolis Star story about the opening, a number of other locations that are either planned or are under construction were listed. Conspicuous in its absence was the one in Oak Grove, Ky., on I-24 near Fort Campbell and the Tennessee state line.

Quote from: JoePCool14 on April 08, 2024, 08:21:22 PMComing home on Easter, I caught a Buc-ee's billboard in Wisconsin on I-41/94 of all places. 469 miles.
Where on 41/94?

There is one north of DeForest (the proposed location) on 39/90/94.

Really doesn't phase me now that I've been in one.  Basically like a Wall Drug or South of the Border.

It was facing north for southbound traffic. Somewhere south of Oak Creek/Caledonia.
This is odd because the proposed location is at DeForest, not in the area you're in.  There is a sign there with distance to the KY location as well.

The last news about the WI location dates back to last October at the latest.

DeForest doesn't need a Buc-ees. There are much better ways for them to use that money.

But apparently Buc-ee's needs DeForest.

DeForest and northern Dane Co. in general needs a Walmart/ Target/ Festival more so then a kitschy tourist trap gas station. Much rather see one of those in that location, given the existing lack of grocery options in the area (w/o traveling into Madison or Sun Prairie).

They'll have to get I-30 finished in that area before they can even think about starting to build.

The sign package has been installed at the Amarillo location. The store's exterior looks fairly complete, but I'm sure there is still plenty of construction work to do inside. The location is set to open February 2025. But there are rumors buzzing the store could be open before Christmas.

I think it's great Buc-ee's has announced intentions to build at least one location in Oklahoma. They don't have any sites selected yet, unlike the two locations proposed in Louisiana (one in Lafayette off I-10 just East of the I-49 interchange and another location in Ruston next to I-20).

Oklahoma has a few locations that seem like a good fit for a Buc-ee's super-store.

I think the area where I-44 and I-35 are overlapped would be the most obvious potential location in the state. It's on the North side of the OKC metro, near Frontier City. The Britton Road exit has a couple big pieces of open land next to it. The parcels aren't quite a big at the Hefner Road exit.

I-40 has numerous potential location spots in the Yukon-El Reno area. The only knock against that is the Amarillo location to the West. I don't think Buc-ee's likes building more than one of its locations between big cities.

As far as I can tell, there are no Buc-ee's stores located next to toll roads. All the existing super stores are built next to "free" limited access highways. So that might be a problem for various spots along I-44 in Oklahoma. It might be nice to have a Buc-ee's location in Stroud along the Turner Turnpike, maybe built on the huge piece of vacant land where the outlet store destroyed by the 5-3-99 tornado used to be. It looks like I-40 and I-35 may have the advantage.

Buc-ee's is considering a new store in Monroe County, GA (right off on I-75 north of Macon). Caters to the traffic heading to Savannah and SE South Carolina.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Buc-ee's coming to West Memphis, AR!

https://www.kait8.com/2024/10/29/buc-ees-coming-west-memphis/

"According to the Memphis Business Journal, the mega gas station will be built on a 34-acre site just before the I-40 and I-55 split heading eastbound toward Memphis."

EDIT: found the site location of this proposed Buc-ee's...

"The Buc-ee's will be located on the eastbound side of I-40 between Missouri Street and 7th Street adjacent to Cracker Barrel, according Chad Bowman, director of planning and development in West Memphis. That's about a 10-minute drive from Downtown Memphis."

I don't recall seeing mention that one is also coming to Fayette County, TN (I-40, exit 28): https://www.actionnews5.com/2024/08/14/buc-ees-tax-incentive-approved-fayette-co/

That's exactly where a Buc-ee's in West Memphis should be.  Good place to decompress (if a trip to Buc-ee's could ever be considered relaxation) from dealing with rolling roadblocks on I-40 between there and Little Rock.  They're going to have to do something with the short slip ramps and maybe the service road itself to deal with the traffic this will generate to prevent backups onto I-40/I-55.
