And against the Jaguars?  The Texans got serious issues if they can't beat them straight up.

The NFL really needs to adopt the strict targeting rules that college uses. Automatic ejection and suspension for forcible hits to the head/neck.
Except the suspension is for the rest of the game if done in the first half, and for the first half of the following game if done in the second half.

And you're down a player for the rest of the game.

I'm not sure football would ever adopt that soccer rule.

I say cut him from our team, especially given his past actions like punching a Bears player, and he blacklisted from all the teams.

My wife is wondering whether the five-yard markers are heated in Buffalo because of how well they're keeping them clear. Anyone know?

Thanks. I told her they were probably clearing them periodically, but she doubted me.

Apparently Josh Allen is now the first QB to throw a TD pass, a TD rush and have a TD catch in a single game.

Just four short months ago, the Jets and Dolphins were trendy picks to win the AFC East and the Bills were a complete afterthought in their own division and conference... yet here we are as the Bills clinch the AFC East on Thanksgiving weekend.

That's five straight, for those keeping track at home.

The Steelers could *very* easily lose 5 of their last 7 considering their only remaining non-division games are Chiefs and Eagles. Their only two likely wins are against the Browns, but if they split there and get swept by the Bengals to finish 9-8, the Bengals would have the tiebreaker and could afford another loss elsewhere on their schedule. In that case, the Bengals could get in along with the Colts or Broncos (just not both).

I wouldn't overthink this one. PIT is making the playoffs and CIN is not.
...

With the [lack of] defense the Bengals have, stacking five wins in six games against anyone is a very tall task.
...

Credit where credit is due on this one, the Bengals aren't making the playoffs and the second quoted phrase is a huge part of the reason why.

I believed it could happen, but it had to involve sweeping the Steelers. That seemed doable at the time, but nothing like allowing 40+ points to your hated rival at home, keeping their non-losing streak alive and sending them to the playoffs, and losing again to end your season all at once. Big yikes all around.

Interestingly enough, the Falcons are still favored to win the NFC South. For that reason, I am not adding them at this point, but I will add the Bengals, Bears, Cowboys, and 49ers, which brings me to the following:

AFC:
Forked (new in bold):
Patriots, Raiders, Steelers, Titans, Browns, Jaguars, Jets, Bengals

NFC:
Forked (new in bold):
Commanders, Panthers, Saints, Vikings, Giants, Bears, Cowboys, 49ers

That's exactly half the league, leaving the other half still alive. Unfortunately, three of my forks are near locks for the playoffs (Steelers, Commanders, Vikings), so to end up with only true playoff teams unforked, I'd actually need to eliminate five of my unforked teams. Those five are the Dolphins, Colts, and whichever three of the Bucs, Falcons, Cardinals, Rams, and Seahawks don't win their respective division. Obviously, because of my three misses, I can only choose two of those to actually fork. I'll give it another week or so before deciding which two.

JayhawkCO

The only early fork I did that looks very dubious at this point is the Broncos. Everyone else I still would fork as of today, maaaaybe keeping Miami around.

This goes back to my frequent contention that the NFL should adopt the yellow card/red card rules of fútbol, with personal fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct calls rating, at minimum, the showing of a yellow card. The prospect of playing the rest of a game with one or more fewer men on the field will be a STRONG incentive, indeed, for those guys to behave.

And sadly my favorite NFL player outside of the Texans roster -- Christian McCaffrey -- is out for the rest of the year....that is unless a miracle happens that they can win their division; he slated to miss at least six weeks, which I believe is beyond their season now.  Very unfortunate for him and the Niners.  I thought the Niners when fully healthy have the capability to challenge for the Super Bowl.  No matter how good your QB is, without a complete team you're not going to make it very far, look at the Bengals.

Jameis Winston still hasn't changed.  He can really throw the ball and score a shit ton of points.  Trouble is he still can't stop throwing massive amounts of interceptions.
