Looks like a misshaped Facebook symbol.
I once requested a road sign from my local road and bridge department that included a curve and some intersections. I never knew what happened, but one day after I was out, my parents told me I had some visitors from that department asking me about the sign. They even had an example with them asking if this is the one I was looking for. I'm sorry I wasn't home at the time.

This Welcome To New York sign is odd especially for New York.
It seems like it would make more sense if it were;
1)Expressway size, like most New York State Border signs used to be.
2)At the actual border between New York and Pennsylvania, which is on the opposite side of the railroad bridge US 220 is passing over.
3)Mounted on a partial overhead sign gantry.

This sign nearby is kinda neat, don't think I've seen too many BGSes with state route shields for two different states on them before.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

It's efficient, as it eliminates the need to say "Sayre PA". But it only works if the other state has a distinctive shape. That wouldn't fly with Massachusetts.

I'm surprised whoever put a sticker on the word "trespassing" didn't intentionally keep "ass" visible.

This is why more New England states need to replace their state route shields.

The only two that are identical are Massachusetts and Maine, which don't touch. Assuming they don't mess it up (which isn't a given), a sign could contain any two or three of MA, CT, and RI shields and they would be distinguishable.

Although it would be less common for the situation to appear in the first place, since routes generally continue and keep the number across the border, meaning the out-of-state destination would be paired with the in-state route marker type rather than the out-of-state route.

This one in Maryland comes to mind; it has both Maryland and Virginia state route shields. Total of four different types of shields on a single sign (in addition to the foregoing, it has an Interstate shield and a US shield). The signs headed in the other direction from Virginia to Maryland don't have both states' shields on the same sign, although there's still one sign with four different "shields" (as it were) due to one of them having a Virginia secondary marker (a plain circle, which is why I put "shield" in quotation marks).

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"

That last one really is wrong. STOP implies that then you can go. There is a standard DO NOT ENTER sign that they should have used.

Reminds me of the shields Cherokee County, AL, used to use, a few of which still stand:

Doing a browsing of the Nashville area on street view, I came across this gantry on TN 155, with a BGS that has an "Authorized Vehicles Only" plate on it, which I don't think I'd ever seen before. Also, shouldn't that sign also have an arrow on it?
