I posted a similar sign a while back, and I noticed at least 2 more around the city. These seem to be pretty popular with Richmond Department of Public Works.

Adding the cautionary speed limit within a curve sign is slowly catching on across the country, unless the focus was on the additional MPH suffix -- that is a bit odd.

So, we're just not gonna talk about how the entrance to this parking lot is signed like a state highway...?

Yes, I get that some states classify access roads and parking lots serving state institutions as state highways, but that doesn't mean you have to throw up a shield and directional banner as if it were a real road... What's the point?

That trend should start dying off...

The combined horizontal alignment/advisory speed sign was deleted from the 2023 MUTCD. It was meant to supplement an advance horizontal alignment and advisory speed assembly by being a second warning located at the beginning of the roadway curve/turn. I believe FHWA deleted this because many agencies were not implementing it correctly, using it as a stand alone warning.

New gantry and signs on the wbd I-96 exit ramp to Beck Road in Novi.  Left sign in Clearview font, right sign in Highway Gothic font, as shown in the plans.

That looks like a bunch of electrical tape stuck onto a blank sign.

Virginia does this a LOT. The majority of roads to access state institutions like schools, state hospitals, etc. are State Routes with the "VA 3XX" designation. They are not all signed, but a lot of them are.

Typical federal overreach. Making states spend extra money for an auxiliary advisory speed sign when putting the speed within the curve warning sign serves the same purpose with less materials used.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Yes, it's such a typical overreach, changing the rules of their own rulebook after a year-long public comment period which every state DOT, local DPW, and road forum administrator in the country was welcome to participate in. The bastards. I'm so distraught I might drink a can of Mountain Dew.

A few states have auxiliary signage for "Last Exit in {State}" (or similar), but Missouri goes as far as to include it in the exit gore sign on I-64 in St. Louis:

"Last [thing] in Missouri" is a MoDOT heirloom, also seen with rest areas.  StreetView shows this for the Lathrop rest area on northbound I-35 as of last December:

(There used to be others before the Iowa state line, but they have been converted to truck parking.)

So... it's the last time an exit 40 was designated in Missouri? :bigass:

That KEEP LEFT sign on the NJ Turnpike guide is not needed. Considering in the morning that particular lane is closed, you can't keep to the left.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

I somehow didn't even realize this when I first posted.  :spin:
