I thought they were in other parts of the country too, including places like New Jersey and California.

Quote from: Scott5114 on March 05, 2025, 08:06:17 PMThere are a bunch of these on the west side of Las Vegas because whoever was in charge of the street layout for Summerlin gave their kid a bunch of crayons and let them scribble out the street layout there. So there are segments of Hualapai Way, Fort Apache Road, and Durango Drive to the north and south of Summerlin that don't connect.

Wichita has one of the most annoying ones.  Where 1st Street crosses the Arkansas River in a straight line, it becomes 2nd Street.

Because "Regional Grid" sounds like something operated out of someone's garage.

(Side Note: I once QA'd a tiny portion of their non-English language website many moons ago as a side gig.)

Texas has a stretch of freeway named in honor of Ronald Reagan despite him never living in that state.

That's uncommon how?  Rodeo Road in Los Angeles was renamed to Obama Boulevard in 2019.

Is it really unusual? Eisenhower and Kennedy Expressways in Illinois are examples.

The pins make no sense. It's not like it's keeping it in a form where you could wear it immediately upon buying it. There are always a ton of creases you need to wash out.

And there is the one pin in a very difficult position to remove.

Both of them were way less polarizing than Ronald Reagan.

Max Rockatansky

Why does it matter to you that a segment of freeway in Texas is named after Ronald Reagan?  You don't live in Texas and aren't tangibly affected by this.

Ah. So now we're shifting the goalposts I see.

All K12 does on this forum is shift goalposts or talks about fictional future tech.  He eventually quit the "Interstate of the Future" after getting back into too many logic corners after half a dozen or so such shifts.

I'm more curious to find out what his critique on Ronald Reagan is now.  His last post read as though he had something to say but held back.

I was worried about broaching politics, but since you asked, I think the name associated with the part of I-20 east of Highway 360 as well as I-635 should be extended west as it belongs to a Texan who achieved a lot more during his Presidency and doesn't already have an airport in our nation's capital named after him.

Why not just lead with that?  If that is the extent of a political take then it is pretty tame.

As for whether it's common to name highways after Presidents with no personal connection to that state, I'd say it isn't, with the exception of John F Kennedy or those who are on Mount Rushmore.

Max Rockatansky

You do realize there are those out there who aren't Kennedy or the pantheon of Mount Rushmore enthusiasts?  I dunno, just seems unhealthy to be fixated on what the name of a freeway is in a state which you don't reside.

Scott5114

Oklahoma has a section of highway named after the current President in the Panhandle. While the President has been to Oklahoma a few times during primaries, as far as I know he's never had any reason to go to Cimarron County.
