Then, somebody have to do something about it. Make AARoads Wiki stand out from Wikipedia. Since they're both using the same information, I can understand why some of us are fighting them. Again, you cannot expect every one of us to adapt if same information can be accessed from the first thing they see after they type something on Google search.

For example, on Google search, I typed "Interstate 11". Guess which site popped up first? The Wikipedia one. The AARoads Wiki section is found near the bottom of the search list (from my laptop it is). Guess where people are going to click on first? Usually the first or second link they see, even if it is Wikipedia one. You can't fault them for that. However, to point out that we should be supporting their decisions instead of fighting them is over the top as each person have their website preferences for finding information. No matter what information they found, most of the time they come in here everyday to talk/share/complain/rant/discuss/argue/fighting about them. That's the support this site received from both the roadgeek and general population communities. This site has already proven to be the most reliable and probably the best source for information related to roads (IMO) and I thank them for their hard work, but let's just not push more members away just because you guys want AARoads Wiki to be your main source for finding information instead of what they want to use.

Since this is a I-42 topic, this kind of discussion should be moved somewhere else. We're already going way off the topic here.

There was a fairly prominent announcement when the AARW went public.  That said, I'm not trying to go after anyone specific here - just the trend where it seems like every time there's a change to the road system someone will make a post saying "[change] is now on Wikipedia!".  I'm not keeping track of who's doing what when with that.

The "change is now on Wikipedia" comments are not the problem - they are always in response to a previous, problematic, post saying that the change is not yet on Wikipedia yet.

I think this is a rather moot conversation.  As Wikipedia deletes road-related pages, AARoads Wiki will preserve them.  Doesn't matter who clicks on what now.

While it appears no changes to the overhead signage on I-40 East regarding I-42 have happened yet, they have started changing the signs on US 70 in Garner. Here's one of the revised I-40 signs where East US 70 has been replaced by To I-42. I am assuming the same thing will happen soon with the pull through signs on I-40 headed east at the US 70 exit:

I find it odd that while the westbound signs on Interstate 40's Exit 309 are signed as Interstate 42 East (save a lone "old" sign), the eastbound signs still have signage for US 70 East (as of last month via Google Maps Street View). Is there any plan to rectify this?

Highways getting new names due to I-42

Here's an updated drive from Wilson's Mills to I-40 today:

Of note, it looks like final asphalt is going down along US-70 East east of Wilson's Mill Rd.:


I thought this was interesting. The sign for what will be where US-70 West exits I-42 West was corrected by covering up the old "Business" label, but the old exit number was left. Although, given how NCDOT handled the renumbering along the Goldsboro bypass, maybe these US-70/70 Business exits will remain US-70 mileage-based until the Wilson's Mills portion is upgraded to I-42. Given the installed supports, it looks like this sign will be replaced anyway, so I thought the correction was interesting.

The bridge for the ramp from the future NC-540 extension that crosses the I-42 West to I-40 West ramp (mainline?) seems to be making good progress:

As of last December, the new interchange at Wilson Mills Rd. does not have a number. When it gets a number, it will likely get an Interstate 42 mileage number rather than a US 70 mileage number. This is unlike the new interchange at Swift Creek Rd., which got a US 70 mileage-based number from the get-go.

I like how there is a "END I-42" shield right there when you merge onto I-40 West. (from the video). When NC-540 interchange is finished (with the extension), this interchange will probably become one of the busiest.

The Clayton Roundabout. It is a roundabout interchange between two interstates and a toll road, and it is just to the west of Clayton.

Based on posts on the FB group Tar Heel Roads, it appears they have now revised the exit signage for the now NC 36 exit. This has been confirmed through the traffic camera on I-40 East after the NC 540 exit which shows an NC 36 shield on the 1/2 mile advance sign for the exit (image posted on the FB group page).

Maybe someone else already pointed this out, but assuming you were on NC 540 going east onto I-42, you could make a 360^o loop by taking the exit to I-40 west and continue around the circle back to I-42 east. OR even a 270^o loop to I-40 east.

Could be North Carolina's version of Rhonda the Roundabout
