Up until 2022 this was the location of the last eastbound US 58 marker.  But within the next year it had been replaced with an "East US 40" marker:

Presumably this would have been installed by the City of VA Beach?

When was US 40 rerouted to Virginia Beach? This is a major screw-up on whoever made that sign and who installed it.

It sure was. Virginia Beach has since corrected it back to a US 58 shield. If I recall correctly, the MUTCD uses US 40 in some example images of what a US shield should look like.
