Quote from: thenetwork on September 28, 2025, 07:59:22 PMI still cant figure out how the Vikings are playing 2 European games in a row.  Is it punishment?

They actually are fine with it. They want to expand their European outreach and knock off two road games on a neutral site.

Good week for byes to begin.  40-40 draw, time for a break.

From Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Here's every time a Dallas Cowboys game finished in a tie:
  • Sept. 28, 2025: Cowboys 40, Green Bay Packers 40 (at AT&T Stadium)
  • Nov. 27, 1969: Cowboys 24, San Francisco 49ers 24 (at the Cotton Bowl)
  • Oct. 16, 1966: Cowboys 10, St. Louis Cardinals 10 (at Busch Memorial Stadium in St. Louis)
  • Oct. 11, 1964: Cowboys 13, New York Giants 13 (at the Cotton Bowl)
  • Sept. 16, 1962: Cowboys 35, Washington Redskins 35 (at the Cotton Bowl)
  • Nov. 19, 1961: Cowboys 28, Washington Redskins 28 (at the Cotton Bowl)
  • Dec. 4, 1960: Cowboys 31, New York Giants 31 (at Yankee Stadium in New York)

From Yahoo Sports!: Packers' history with overtime ties is brief but memorable. Here's a look:
  • Sept. 28, 2025: 40-40 at Dallas
  • Sept. 16, 2018: 29-29 vs. Minnesota
  • Nov. 24, 2013: 26-26 vs. Minnesota
  • Sept. 20, 1987: 17-17 vs. Denver
  • Dec. 19, 1982: 20-20 at Baltimore

We may see a 70-70 Packers game in our lifetimes; there's a clear trend

Seems like George Pickens of the Coeboys plus many of the fans didn't know that ties existed.

The new OT rule ensuring both teams get 1 possession in the 10-minute OT period makes ties more likely

I'm not losing any sleep over this, neither team deserved to win.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Quote from: thspfc on September 28, 2025, 07:47:23 PMSomehow, it seems likely that the AFCN will be contested by the Melatonin dream Steelers and Jake Browning Bengals.
I take that back, the Bengals somehow took an even worse beating than last week, when they played the worst half I've ever seen from an NFL team. The Steelers become the first team to clinch their division in 2025, and not by virtue of being great.

Could have done without seeing that Tyreek Hill knee dislocation in intimate detail.

In checking the schedule, there are no more SNF appearances scheduled for the Cowboys, so unless they improve, I don't see any games being flexed in. The Cowboys need a better D Fence if they hope to get into the playoffs.

I'll just continue to watch the games via highlight reels posted on YouTube.

Man Joe Burrow must be the greatest NFL playoff of all time for winning with that Bengals team

That team was a lot better than this one. (Not that Burrow isn't great.)

Max Rockatansky

The Bengals are a bad team with a really good quarterback.  Problem is the team is so bad that the quarterback keeps getting hurt.

I'm definitely putting this on Freezing Cold Takes watch. :D  Not only is it highly likely that one of the other divisions will be clinched first, the Ravens could still easily win the AFC North.

Max Rockatansky

The only way the Ravens are winning that division is if 9-8 is somehow good enough to finish first.   Even then nine wins seems like a tall order after the wheels fell off the last two weeks.

I'm not sure the other teams (Steelers included) have done anything suggestive of 10-7 or better either.

If Aaron Rodgers can be just a game manager the Steelers will easily go 10-7 or 11-6.

They have all 6 division games remaining. Both games vs Cincy will be Burrow-less, and we'll see what the Ravens do with a hobbled Lamar should the season go off the rails.

Based on how things are going, and the Steelers history vs division opponents even when those opponents are good, I would be shocked if they go worse than 4-2 in those games. 5-1 seems most likely, 6-0 possible. They're 3-1 now, so that puts them at 8-2 or 7-3 at worst. Their remaining games are tough, but I would expect them to beat the Bears and Dolphins. Even if they lose every other game (GB, IND, LAC, BUF, DET), that's 10-7 or 9-8.

Yea, I'm a bit surprised that there haven't been more draws coming out of those rules.

Lamar might miss a few weeks with injury. Ravens are done in that case.

The rule change this season is that the other team gets a possession if the first team gets a TD. The other team already got a possession if the first team got a FG, so that rule change didn't impact this game.

Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Here's my solution to the overtime stuff--don't have overtime in the regular season.

All games end in regulation. If one team is ahead, they get 3 points. If the game is tied, the team that was most recently ahead gets 2 points and the other team gets 1 point. There hasn't been a 0-0 tie in decades, but just in case, each team gets 1 point.

Makes those end of game tying PATs more exciting. Do you kick for the tie and take 1 point, or do you go for 2 to get the full 3 points?

Me personally I don't see regular season ties as being an issue in need of addressing.  They are so infrequent that it really doesn't often matter.
