Not according to House Hunters. They're always paying more for a smaller house in the city because it's close to shops, restaurants and bars.

whether cities or suburbs are better really depends on your life stage and your lifestyle choices.

Not so much the former.
I mean young people generally like to party more which is better in cities. I guess that's also kinda lifestyle choices as well.

Cities = bad
Suburbs = bad
Parties = bad
People in general = bad

Weird Al = Even Worse

Weird Al = Definitely not worse than masses of normals people.  He does have a couple catchy parodies.

There are older people that moved from 'burbs to cities that like being close to food and services...myself included. ;D

Given all the talk about it, I thought that was Weird Artificial Intelligence.

Quote from: thspfc on October 15, 2025, 11:33:30 AMIn my head: if a trip takes between 5 and 10 minutes, it takes exactly 10 minutes. If it takes between 10 and 15 minutes, it takes exactly 15 minutes. If it takes between 15 and 30 minutes, it takes exactly 30 minutes.

When I started my current job it took me at least a month to break the internalization that the morning commute was 30 minutes. In reality it was between 21 and 24 minutes every day barring bad weather.

I have the opposite problem. Perhaps due to being spoiled by lack of traffic in upstate NY (and amplified by my last-minute nature), I tend to always round down, so trips that could actually be 15-30 minutes are usually 10-25 in my mind.

Example: From here in the northeast corner of the metro, I would broad-brush a trip to ROC airport as "20 minutes". Google Maps currently estimates 27 minutes, but I know from experience that I could get there in 22-23 outside of rush hour.

Street traffic is worse in cities than it is in suburbs.
