I'll be in Toronto from the 4th to the 10th. I'll probably catch a glimpse of some TVs at restaurants, and I'm interested in whether the Canadian coverage is better than the US coverage.

For reference, the first event begins on the 4th.

It's going to have a lot of scandal with the venues not being ready to go.

Could not care less.  It's become all slick packaging and marketing tie-ins.

America Is Awesome at every sport they present!

* Except for the ones you see no coverage, which is most of them, and especially those which are possibly uninteresting to watch, feature ugly people, or take nine hours to accomplish, but we'll decide that for you in between the same 14 ads for sponsored and approved by the Official Five-Ringed Committee Products and Services and upcoming network programming. So you'll have to wait three days to hear about how some team from Tajikistan or a biathlon skier from St. Vincent and the Grenadines pulled off an upset.

Missed opportunity not having Milano Cookies be the official sponsor.

My wife and I enjoy watching the summer games more than the winter ones, but here are the events we enjoy:

Alpine skiing
Bobsleigh
Curling
Figure skating
Luge

Of those, the one we most like to watch is curling.  We'd never watched it before last Olympics (Beijing) but then both quickly came to enjoy it.  The Olympics are one of the few sporting events we actually watch at our house, but we are Peacock subscribers pretty much just for that.

Best events I've watched so far:

Mixed doubles curling — USA vs Estonia.  A really great defensive game.  Not a lot of big action or big points but, if you understand the game, then it was a good example of two well-matched teams keeping a very close score right till the end.

Women's 3000m speed skating — Got to be so proud of the gold medalist, no matter what country you're from.

I really hope she is okay.  Wasn't her first wipeout, but hopefully it's her last.

Broken tibia, as I understand it.  Same leg as the ACL earlier.  Considering the crash, it could have been much worse.

I wonder why NBC only had 4K coverage of the Olympics for about an hour after the Super Bowl. I keep checking the channel, but it's always signed off.

From what I heard this morning, the fractures are close together, which makes repairing the bone correctly a lot more difficult of a thing.  Her skiing days may be over.

US lost to Sweden in the mixed doubles final and ends up with silver.

All four medal round games were won by the team that had lost the matchup in the round robin.

Man, I've got to stop clicking on this thread.  We're watching them all as replays, and you keep spoiling it for us!

She just told me that she saw a spoiler about it herself, so now she's not even sure she wants to watch it at all.

As today's events draw to a close, Team GB has had its best ever day at a Winter Games. Two golds in a day, where we've never won more than one in a single games before. (this won't be spoilers for those watching highlights as the US coverage is unlikely to show these events).

20% of the UK's Winter Olympic gold medals have come in the last 48 hours (3 out of 15). Including our first gold on snow - but, unlike South Korea who also managed that feat this year, we are not a country that can host the winter games - because we don't have reliable enough snow (nor can rely on cold enough temperatures for the outside ice events).

It's weird watching and seeing us have decent shots (plural) at medals. Our 3 golds come alongside 6 4th places and at least one "oh dear, they mucked up in the final". We didn't have that in the 90s when I was growing up!

NBC and USA broadcast may not show it, but Peacock streams every event live. That said, I've spent pretty much all day watching curling and hockey.
