Russia:

Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg → Vladivostok railway station = 4062 miles

Québéc City railway station → Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg = 3859 miles

Whoa, weird.  That link directs me to a post from 9/20/2018.

Anyway, at least this post corrects the error in the earlier one, where it was claimed Cimarron County borders five other states rather than four.

It's not an error; the fifth state is Oklahoma itself.

Cimarron County does not border Oklahoma.  That's like saying Chicago borders Cook County, or South Dakota borders the USA.

Based on the exact wording, it works if Texas County, Oklahoma is included.

Sure, I guess, in the same way that New Mexico shares a border with states in two different countries.

We have now successfully split the hair.

There is a near-quad point along the Mississippi-Alabama state line that is nearly equally distant to four countries: Canada, Mexico, Cuba and the Bahamas.

Atlanta, GA is 600 miles from Miami but only 555 miles from the Canadian border on Lake Erie.

Doesn't Atlanta expect to see snow every winter?  They normally drop to freezing in January.  Not only is it closer to Canada than it is to the southernmost point in Florida, but it's up there in elevation at over a thousand feet above sea level.

Speaking of elevation, I didn't know that the highest point in Los Angeles is higher than that of Denver, in fact LA's highest point is nearly two miles high -- almost twice that of the city famously nicknamed 'Mile-High City'.  Another fact lost on a lot of people, Albuquerque is also a mile-high in elevation just like Denver is.
We are located so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

This doesn't seem correct.  Highest point in the City of LA is 5,075 feet at Mount Lukens.  Highest point in Denver's city limits is just under 5,700 feet...

That is correct, the city limit for some reason backs up pretty far into the San Gabriel Range.  For the most part much of the northern city limit ends at the foot of the mountains along National Forest lands.

My problem with this comparison is that if Denver was the same size as Los Angeles County area-wise, its highest point would be one of the taller Rockies.

I didn't even realize the high point in Fresno County was over 14,000 feet.  Apparently it is North Palisade at 14,248 feet above sea level.

This is Colorado's fault for giving the job of drawing county lines over to a maniac with a rolling ruler.

And yet, most of the metropolitan area is on one system for street naming and address numbering.

The border of New York and Pennsylvania along Lake Erie lines up *exactly* due south of the westernmost edge of Lake Ontario.
