I've decided to start blogging again. This time I'll be balancing my interests in roads and cars, particularly of the 4- and 5-door variety. The first post is up, which is a long way of saying what this forum post is.

Thanks, got another post coming in the next couple days. I'm going to try to post at least once a month.

Checking out the east end of Richmond. A bit of endpoint confusion, a bit of construction, and most of a decommissioned state route.

Back in Richmond, where I check out one of many of Virginia's state facility routes. This one is VA 353, which serves a bit of VCU.

The May 1973 CTB removes VA 353 from the state highway system. This is why I consider current VA 353 to be a second one.

Yup, I requested that 353 shield. It's the only state facility route I've managed to get them to post because the city actually maintains part of it (namely, the roundabout at its western end).

There used to be a 353 reassurance marker heading eastbound down Duval Street back in the day but it disappeared around 2010.

The city isn't opposed to posting 315 or 399 but they don't maintain those so they suggested I reach out to the VMFA and the Science Museum to see if they'd like them posted (and I really doubt they do). They won't post 318 because the Bank Street segment is no longer continuous.

Thanks, didn't know if there was some new information about it that had come to light in recent years. FWIW the white rectangle looks like it could be from the 80s. If I'm ever on foot when I'm around there I'll check to see if there are any dates on the reassurance shield.

I've half-jokingly thought of getting a custom 315 cutout shield made and offering it to the art museum as a donation on the condition that they post it on the entrance road as an actual road sign.

That's funny, I once thought about doing the same thing, but with 399 at the Science Museum. :-D
