These signs have since been replaced.

About time, albeit with sadness, those signs were originally installed in 1978, and I'd be willing to bet that those were the 2nd generation of signs for that stretch of freeway which opened in the 60s.

Yeah, they were probably second generation.  The new signs are not significantly different from those (no Clearview or anything, like I-77 south of the Central Interchange in Akron) - I think ODOT replaced all the signs on I-76 west of Akron in conjunction with the new interchange with I-71.
