Chicago - Saturday in the Park

A fitting song for today, IMHO.

I feel so embarrassed now that I didn't think of that song once yesterday, one I often think of even on the average year when 7/4 isn't on Saturday.

I think you can safely enjoy the song on any Saturday, regardless of whether it's the Fourth of July or not. The singer says in the second line of the song he only thinks it was the Fourth of July. (In my view, he's probably wrong, since it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that people would be singing Italian songs on the Fourth of July.) It could have been the Fifth, or perhaps late June or early August. Later on, he says another day was the Fourth of July. Later still, he talks of forty days in the park and all of them are the Fourth of July. This is a great example of an unreliable narrator, and ties in with Chicago's other hit, "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?"—evidently this outfit was perpetually confused as to the current time and date, which means buying a ticket to one of their concerts must have been a risky proposition.

Apparently the song title/chorus of "25 or 6 to 4" by Chicago was meant as a reference/response to their song "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It is?" as well.

They really were having problems with time, weren't they? 6 to 4 is a valid time (3:54), but 25 isn't.

^^ Did they mean 25 or 26 and used the last digit only?
