I'd say that that counts. The line is in the median of the highway at ground level for the highway's entire length, so the experience is essentially the same.

After a lengthy and circuitous round trip to and from Chicago I got only one clinch but it's a pretty big one: the mammoth WI 193.

If we don't count roadways that lead to a single ramp, I-255 IL. Otherwise I finally got a hold of I-64 and I-255 in Missouri. Now all I need is I-270...

Took a spur-of-a-moment trip up to Milwaukee post-Chicago-meet yesterday.  Have now clinched all of I-43.

In the last month, my travels took me to the Nashville area, and while I haven't had a whole lot of time, I did manage to clinch Tennessee's I-440. I also covered the portion of TN-155 north of I-40 (which I believe is the freeway portion of the Briley Parkway), though that doesn't cover TN-155 in its entirety.

So far, my  massive clinched Interstates collection consists of:

I-215 (UT),
I-170 (MO), and
I-440 (TN).

Also forgot to mention that I did clinch I-270 and I-225 in Colorado.

I also got back from a trip to the Kansas City/St. Joseph MO areas, and was able to knock off MO-1, I-229, and I-635.

That Interstate list now looks like:

I-295 and I-395 in Maine are both fully clinched for me now unless I-395 includes the portion west of I-95.

My overall travel:

Starting from Derry NH: NH 28 Bypass → NH 102 → NH 107 → NH 101 → I-95 → I-295 → I-95 → ME 3 → ME 230 → Beechland Rd. → ME 3 (up to downtown Bar Harbor

On the way back: ME 3 → ME 204 → ME 184 → US 1 → several local roads because I went to the Downeast Scenic Railroad → US 1A → I-395 → I-95 back to Massachusetts

All of this is entirely new for me except parts of NH 101 and I-95 in New Hampshire.

New routes traveled that are not listed above: ME 9, 15, 32 (overlaps), 11, 17 (getting gas at I-95 exit 109), ME 233 (while in Acadia), ME 172 (one block only due to a closed segment of US 1/ME 3)
New segments of existing routes: US 1, 202 (overlaps), ME 100 (exit 109)

I cannot update Travel Mapping right now because my computer is under repair for the second time consecutively; I was looking for two things for them to fix and they didn't see the one that was intermittent (lines on the display) but the problem was showing immediately as soon as the person giving it back to me opened it after the first repair.

I've started a road trip that should take me from SoCal up to western Montana, then east to Billings, then south on the east side of the Rockies all the way to El Paso, then back to SoCal. But over the past few days, I've driven a ton of mostly mountain roads in Utah, which are really beautiful. Here's the clinch list so far:

The BL in Nephi UT is one of two I was missing on I-15. The other is Dillon MT, which I'll get tomorrow. The BL in Richfield UT is one of three I was missing on I-70. The others are in the Denver area, which I'll get later on.

When I drove the 10K (feet) UT-143, I didn't realize I'd be driving through the beautiful Cedar Breaks National Monument, because its name doesn't appear in Google until you zoom way in. It has several spectacular viewpoints, and lots of hilly grassland. I had also hoped to drive the 10K UT-153 further north, but a fire a while back led to huge mudslides last month, taking out big chunks of it, so it may be a year or more before I get to drive it.

I was amazed at how many ski resorts there are in Utah, in the mountains east of the urban areas. Some were quite crowded, probably with trail bikers, but there were tons of regular bikers on the state highways too. I think maybe the mountains are a better place to invest in bike paths, rather than stealing a car lane in the city and giving it over to the half dozen cyclists who ever use it.

I took a break from the mountains, and drove all the roads on Antelope Island in Great Salt Lake. It's a nice looking place, but the north end of the island is the foulest smelling place I've ever visited. I think its rotting shellfish, but there's also some sewage treatment wastewater involved. But the gulls seemed to like it.

The only big clinch I expect on this trip will be I-25, which I've driven very little of. The only US route I'll clinch is US-310 in MT and WY, but I'm going to try to drive all remaining US routes in WY, which means pieces of 14, 14A, 16, 18, 20, 26, 30, 85, 87, 212, 287, and 310. I'll also drive the remaining interstates in the western 11 states, which involves 90 between Billings MT and Buffalo WY, 76 in the Denver area, and the two 3dis in Denver. Particularly scenic stuff will include Old Fall River Rd in Rocky Mountain NP, Pikes Peak Rd, Sandia Crest above Albuquerque, and who knows what else.

Today I finished clinching all the US routes in Wyoming. This involved driving parts of 14, 16, 18, 20, 26, 30, 85, 87, 212, 287, and 310. I had already clinched 89, 189, and 191. Earlier in the trip, I clinched 87, 212, 287, and 210 in Montana, on top of earlier clinches of 20, 89, 93, and 191, leaving only parts of 2 and 12 for a later trip. Also clinched the remaining Interstate mileage in those states, involving parts of 25 and 90.

Fortunately, these are mostly roads that go through really nice, and sometimes spectacular, countryside. And the clouds have been amazingly beautiful this trip, including some very dark ones coinciding with short downpours that add a lot of drama to the landscape.

I always include all business and alternate routes, because I like seeing the towns. Sometimes they're depressing (Chugwater WY), but sometimes they're great (Deadwood SD). However, I'm missing three Interstate business routes in Montana, in places I drove back in the 90s before I even thought about "clinching".

I refuse to believe a place called "Chugwater" is depressing.  Vintage derelict buildings (ruins porn) and an authentic soda fountain are more than most towns off I-25 offer.

There are a lot of empty storefronts and abandoned buildings. This is common in farming or ranching areas, communities with two-digit populations, places no one will ever move to.

I did see a few Historic US-87 signs on the Chugwater Highway, two along the business route and one further south.

Today, I finished cinching the Interstates in the western 11 contiguous states. This added I-25, the western I-76, and I-225 and I-270 in Denver, along with mileage on I-90 which still isn't fully clinched elsewhere in the US. I'll update my sig block when I get home in a couple more days. Tomorrow, I'll grab I-110 in El Paso, after which the closest undriven Interstate from where I live will be I-27 in Lubbock TX.

So you did something like approach a town going southbound, take the BL southbound, went back northbound on the mainline, turned around, continued south...?

That always feels like drudgery to me, so I usually only do BLs on my second pass through an area.

Usually, I drive the mainline to the far end of the BL, drive the BL back, then repeat that section of the mainline. On an Interstate, that doesn't take much extra time, and it only uses each interchange once. It really is a business "loop" when you do it that way.
