Yeah, come on, |Rothman|, that's not even an actual contract.

And, as |GaryV| pointed out, who knows if "net revenue" will even amount to more than a few pennies.

Yes, Canadian PM Mark Carney gave up...a fair amount to get the Gordie Howe Bridge opened. But what happens when Matthew Moroun figures out that he's been made whole enough to try to undercut the Gordie Howe bridge on toll price?

Anybody in Chicagoland up for a day trip to cross the new bridge?

If you think any of the Gordie Howe points are wrong, address the specific procedure. The administrative record isn't affected by tone or speculation about who wrote the post.

Why is it that rank and file (i.e. not mods) posters like you act like you own this forum and should tell people when and what (and not) they can post?

I submitted your post to MS Copilot and this was its output. He also read thru previous threads for his observations.

You missed the point.  You're pretty much now considered the AI post guy.  Anything that you write that kind of reads like it was AI generated will probably be perceived as such.

Is "administrative record" what we are calling "legacy stewardship" now?  The notion of all these hobby sites being some sort of permanent records is something I find unreasonably amusing.

Isn't that basically the case for everything on internet/social media?

But I get your point - certainly not anything official.

As I'm to understand it Beltway is approaching this more from the angle of hobby pages.  How many hobby road pages have died over the last quarter century?  It is almost an inevitability that hobby pages will die at some point.  Even the original version of our site (Gribblenation) died before Adam and Doug decided to restart on Blogger.

No, I'm pretty sure he meant that the legal facts are what they are, regardless of how annoying he and I can be on the forum.  Because he thought, you know, I must not have known that already.

Speculation about labels doesn't change the facts. If any Gordie Howe procedure I listed is wrong, identify which one.

I'm not even arguing with you.  I just thought that one post sounded kind of like it was the product of A.I., that's all.

No -- the administrative record of the project thru their news releases and project documents.

For the federal government they are. I'd think for most state governments they are as well.

"the administrative record of the project thru -their- news releases and project documents". IOW the project administrators.

Quote from: thenetwork on July 29, 2026, 08:40:12 PMI saw one FB video today (unfortunately lost the link) which showed the poster crossing from the I-75 south exit.

Surprised to see that the toll to Canada is paid AFTER clearing Canadian customs on the Canadian side.

Also per the video, the first 10,000 vehicles to cross received a commemorative post card noting the opening of the bridge and an image of Gordie Howe himself.

https://detroithockeynow.com/commemorative-card-of-red-wings-icon-celebrates-opening-of-gordie-howe-bridge/

For the International Bridge at Sault Ste. Marie, the toll plaza is south of US Customs and Border Protection, so on a return to Michigan, one completes immigration and customs before paying the toll.

Breakaway Pass signs were updated to better reflect its use in specified toll lanes. Previously, Breakaway-only lanes did not say "Breakaway Pass" apparently...

ALSO, the multi-use path will have some restrictions put into place upon its initial opening. Access will be limited to an unspecified lower capacity for the first few weeks. Additionally, the hours of operation will NOT be 24/7 and instead be:
QuoteOpen: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm from April 1 – October 31; 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from November 1 – March 31
Access will close 1 hour before full closing time.

4 PM... EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW...

20km/h speed limit will also be in force. Double EWWWW... (I can run faster than that :-o  :wow:)

https://gordiehoweinternationalbridge.com/toll/multi-use-path/

At least they have one. Seems like it'll be good for transportation purposes, especially if it links up with multiple other trails. Hoping for its success despite my concerns!! :spin:
I can drive 55 ONLY when it makes sense.

I suspect the path is primarily considered to be recreational, much like the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge path is.  The GMCB path has a similar speed restriction due to how narrow it is (although it's rounded up to 15).  You probably wouldn't get a ticket for running faster - it's probably just to keep cyclists from blowing past pedestrians at high speed.

I found this part of the FAQ to be a bit contradictory:
QuoteUsers are allowed to return to their country of origin at any point along their journey. Border inspection is mandatory upon entering the country regardless of duration or length of trip on the path.
So, an you turn back at any point, or are you locked in to proceeding all the way to customs if you step even one inch across the border?  As much as I would think treating it like the Peace Arch would be logical (especially since, unlike the Peace Arch, all users must go through customs when exiting), I'm also not sure that the current US government would agree to something like that.
