Meanwhile, Kansas went and did the opposite with K-42:

Another interesting thing at that interchange is KDOT using control cities on a 3di other than I-135—itself pretty unusual—meaning we get the rare fully-spelled out "Oklahoma City". (Every state that borders Oklahoma has their own control city fairly close to the border, and in Oklahoma itself it is nearly always abbreviated as "Okla. City".)

Ends?  Is this only one end?

They got it right in Charleston though for US 78.

Plus here they have the proper END.

Here's a potential worst... this sign was intended as a borough limit sign, but was instead modified very sloppily to be a distance sign:

Note that the edits are in yellow, and that the number is unclear (it's 1, not 7).

Unusual use of an advisory speed plaque on KY 30 in Breathitt County.

We really need a non-MUTCD compliant forum for the latter example. Surely it would function better than the Facebook groups.

It looks like the arrow sign itself is also being used wrong, unless there's an intersecting road outside the frame.

A wut to both of you.  Somewhat common to see arrow signs like that paired with advisory speeds.

Checked the MUTCD and it looks like you're right about the arrow (I was thinking of the two-way version of that sign and of instances where many of those arrows are used where chevrons should have been used instead) but only half-right about the advisory plaque - the MUTCD always shows a longer rectangular advisory plaque being used with those signs:

Signs with design errors?

Or do you mean a sub-forum/thread or each type of error/oddity?

For what it's worth, I have never once seen an W1-6 oblong arrow sign with any sort of advisory plaque—I've only ever seen them accompanying the diamond sign upstream.

The 1948 MUTCD offered an interesting array of color choices for the oblong arrow signs. Black on white and white on black were also options. Based on the accompanying verbiage it sounded like that had to do with yellow reflective sheeting not really being a thing yet, whereas white was more easily obtained.

Missouri has one for the NB I-55 to WB I-44 ramp.

Yeah, but I've never used that ramp, so I've never seen it.  :spin:

Declan127

13 mile advance sign in Hartford (also an error, since either the "13 Miles" or the 91 North shouldn't be there as to not suggest an exit for the highway you're already on)

And in the "ugly" category, exit renumbering and interchange reconstruction have created...this on the Wilbur Cross NB south of I-91 (iirc this was button copy, which is interesting in and of itself because most button copy didn't survive)

Some form of that advance signage for KBDL has been there for decades.  There's also the more offputting on on I-81 for KAVP that's similar.

I was going to say as much, it's pretty clearly button copy.
