Depending on which station's numbers you look at, every single day in August hit at least 90°F here;  some stations reported 88°F or 89°F on two of those days.  Plus, according to my count, 17 days in August hit at least 98°F.  Low triple digits are still in the forecast through September 9.

Today nor any day upcoming has a forecasted high in the 90s, which is just about on schedule. The average latest 90° day here is September 5th. Given that it was a very hot summer here, this is most welcome. Also, we've definitely had more of a monsoon effect lately, probably because of the strong El Niño.

For all of July and August, the airport recorded 0.75 inches of rain.  The average for that two-month period is eight inches.  It was the driest July–August on record since the Dust Bowl.

I see winter conditions have already arrived up north; that would be our average low around Christmas.


Meanwhile our temperature remain several degrees above normal; we had a period of unusually lower dew points a few weeks ago, but with tropical season approaching its peak (coming up next week), the moisture loads have returned from the gulf.  With dew points in the high 70s and low 80s.  Our low temperatures also remain unchanged despite a week into September; Corpus Christi hasn't seen temperatures in the 70s for over a month.

85°F and sunny here, just before 9am.  Today is supposed to reach 105°F.  We might get a little bit of rain tomorrow night, which I only have a fuzzy memory of by this point.  The forecast high for tomorrow is 100°F, but the following day only 90°F.

83°F here, just after 3pm, with a mix of blue sky and clouds.  It rained a little bit yesterday, and then more this morning.  It's such a welcome relief, with the previous twelve days all hitting at least 98°F.

In Wichita, too, we're dying for something below 90°F.  We only had one day below 90°F, and today was back up around 100°F (but windy, fortunately).  After this week-end, though, there are actually some 70s predicted.

Wichita got two inches of rain yesterday, which is more than the previous fifty days put together.  I drove through cats and dogs yesterday evening, doing about 42 mph for a few miles of Kellogg (speed limit 60) with nobody passing me.

It's currently 74°F and sunny, with a forecast high of 95°F.

More rain in the forecast for this week-end, with a 15-degree difference between Saturday's and Sunday's high.
