My first image post in this thread is something other than a route shield...a Nevada-style milepost on SR 650/McCarran Blvd in Sparks, just north of the I-80 overpass.

(image from RockyMountainRoads)

Interestingly, this milepost is no longer present. As of July 2009, all SR 650 & SR 651 mileposts on the McCarran Blvd loop have been replaced with mileposts for a new SR 659.

The only thing that would have made that better if it was "in the wild."

<off topic>
When I first moved to Ohio in 1985, the preacher at the church I went to had a "666" exchange phone number and one of his daughters was born on Halloween and looked like a flat-chested Elvira!

better? :P

the 666 sitting on my living room floor was stamped out about a month ago.  Maybe I should've hung it up on 666 when I drove past it the other day.

Is US-666 considered just as important as US-66? Everyone the world over has heard of US-66 but US-666 :paranoid:

No, it's the number given to the devil's main servant on earth (a.k.a. The Antichrist  :evilgrin:) in the biblical book of Revelations.

US 666 was also nicknamed  :evilgrin: "The Devil's Highway" :evilgrin: and it was those religious connotations that led to the decommissioning of the number.
