Greetings from snowy Virginia!

I am pleased to announce the first 2010 content update to NCRoads.com Annex page:

Highlights include previously undocumented routes: an older US 25-A and NC 191-A.  I also make the case that there were 2 NC 130-A routes.

Much more info and mapscans are included...1920s routings of NC 191 and 194 for instance.

Keep up the good work on this, I reference the NC Annex and Virginia Highways pages often when updating guides for AARoads.

Greetings-

The webhost of the NCRoads Annex site has gotten out of the web hosting business.

Therefore, the site has been moved under the vahighways.com domain.

The index page for the NCRoads.com Annex page is now here: http://www.vahighways.com/ncannex/route-log/index.html

The navigational links should be working (especially from the index page).  For mapscans and pictures, I have to change the code for each individual page to make them appear in their new home.  I have started with the state routes and have completed up through 179 and over the next couple weeks will get them all squared away...

After a comprehensive vahighways.com photo gallery update, I will return to NCRaods for content updates to US 74, US 76, and US 158...

Thanks for the updated URL, I updated the link from the AARoads NC pages.

Greetings...

A substantial content update is available on NCRoads.com Annex:

Pages have been rewritten with much more detail and many mapscans for the following routes:
US 74, US 74-A, US 74 Bus, US 76, US 76 Bus, US 117, US 117-A, US 117 Bus, US 121, US 129, US 158, US 158-A, US 158 Bus, US 176, US 178, US 217

Plus new appearances by US 117 Conn and a short-lived NC 221.

Did you know that Leland and Wrightsville Beach each had their own US 74-A?  One lasted nearly 40 years!
Plus less-surpising are US 74-A routes in Rutherfordton, central Monroe, and Rockingham...

How about a US 158-A in Oxford?

How many endpoints has US 76 had in Wrightsville Beach?  Did you guess 3?

See if you can spot one other lesser-known banner route for a higher number...

Greetings...

A substantial content update is available 3/5/13 on NCRoads.com Annex:

New routes have been documented: US 401-A, NC 44 #2, NC 135 #1, NC 147 #1, NC 295

Pages have been rewritten with much more detail and many mapscans for the following routes:
US 220, US 220-A, US 220 Bus, US 221, US 221-A, US 221 Bus, US 258, US 258 Bus, US 264, US 264-A, US 264 Bus, US 270, US 276, US 301, US 301-A, US 301 Bus, US 311, US 311 Bus, US 321, US 321-A, US 321 Bus, US 401, US 401 Bus, and US 411.

Did you know that US 301-A existed in Weldon?  How about Smithfield?
Did you know US 301 had a shorter Wilson bypass or a Business route through Elm City?

How many ways has US 311 run through Winston-Salem?

Would you be surprised to know there was a NC 135 in western NC for 29 days in 1967?  Or a NC 147 for a brief period through 4 counties in the late 1970s?

Find your own obscure NC Nugget!

Greetings...

A substantial content update is available 12/10/13 on NCRoads.com Annex:

New routes have been documented: I-3, I-20, I-44, I-74 TEMP, I-79, I-185, I-285, I-195, I-295, I-495, I-795, I-99, US 64-A #9, US 64-A #12, NC 144 #2

Pages have been rewritten with much more detail and many mapscans for the following routes:
I-26, I-40, I-40 Bus, I-140, I-240, I-440, I-540, I-640, I-840, I-73, I-74, I-274, I-77, I-277, I-85, I-85 Bus, I-85 TEMP, I-485, I-785, I-95, I-95 Bus, US 421, US 421-A, US 421 Bus, US 441, US 441 Bus, US 501, US 501-A, US 501 Bus, US 521, US 601, US 601 Bus, US 701, US 701-A, and US 701 Bus

It took nearly 10 years, but this concludes the transition from the original NCRoads.com to all-original work by NCRoads.com Annex.  Of course, this does not conclude the continual updating of material...

Surprisingly, the US 64-A shown on current Rand McN atlases from Morganton to Statesville did briefly (though erroneously) exist!  Plus I found another US 64-A that existed in Hildebran...

Did you know US 421 has ended at two different places south of Wilmington?

Did you know that US 501-A and 501 Bus existed in Roxboro?

Did you know US 521 once ended at US 29?

Would you be surprised to know there was a NC 144 in eastern NC for 30 days in 1984?  Or that NC 132 was assigned to end way up in Wallace for over a year?  Or that NC 98 once extended east to Nashville in the late 1970s?

Find your own obscure NC Nugget!  There is a 1961 photo from the I-40/NC 6 interchange included...

Does anyone ever talk to Matt Steffora anymore? Or has ol' "JVincent" fallen off the face of the earth?
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.
