getting Delaware out of the way with this 1930s classic.

I took this picture in Providence, RI in 2006.  I searched for a shield assembly with "R.I." but couldn't find one at time, so this may not qualify. Actually it looks like it could have been taken in Maine as well.

pending approval for RI 114

or Mass, or even Conn since sometimes they like to use the Mass-style thin-border square.  Hell, New Hampshire is not out of the question for an older gantry.

here's a more distinctly RI 114 so we're all good.

Back to New England with MA 116.  I think this is easier to identify with the control cities posted and I-90 only serving Massachusetts.

90 does also serve Montana, but MT does not use the paddle style of sign - or the neutered square all that often.

US-117 is a one-state-only route (NC), having been eliminated in Virginia and SC well before this style of sign was used starting in 1961.

A few states (AR, OH and TN) have already been posted, so the remaining states should be

what's the problem with it?

also, does NC use flattened diamonds on their green signs?  I can't say I've ever paid much attention to NC signage.

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

No, NC uses standard diamonds, not flattened ones.

prenatt1166

just a reminder...  It was mentioned earlier that 128 is the only number available for Idaho.

that they do.  Just checked on Street View.  Dang, the shield gallery doesn't have a single example of a NC state route marker on a green sign.

anyone know of any older or otherwise interesting NC state route markers on green signs?

Seems to me they use the rounded corners on BGSes and the exit tabs have significant separation. Plus, I'm not finding any evidence of an NC 121, either living or dead, so until NCDOT decides to commission one of its own, a diamond 121 should be able to be identified.

I think we've had an implicit rule of "no one (not even Froggie!) is expected to know the routing systems of every state, while the interstate and US routings are to be assumed common knowledge".  There, let's make that an explicit rule!
