explain the Raiders.

It's a reverse dynasty. Imperious owner, appeals to tradition, exceptionalism, the "Raider Nation"... there's everything a dynasty has except victories. (Recent victories.)

Well, they COULD be the Lions....

It's comments like that that's going to make it very, very hard for my Texans team to get the win tomorrow against that talent-loaded Dallas team.....by firing up our opponents and giving them motivation to use against us.  That's what Cowboys fans have resort to....criticizing and even insulting their own team to give them fuel, which could very well work.  Thanks a lot; now those dreaded Cowboys are going to come out angry and desperate for a win.
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

So what's the problem with Chelsea? Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal are much bigger enemies.

Here's my list (rather football heavy):
1) Man U - especially this season where they've played badly in loads of games and somehow get some result out of the game
2) Australian national cricket team
3) Luton Town FC - born in Watford and so I have the rivalry between the two towns in my veins
4) Portsmouth FC - lived in Southampton and so picked up the south coast rivalry
5) Argentina national football team
6) Chelsea as they bought success, rather than worked at it (I would also dislike Man City, were it not for my dislike of Man U and the fact that money hasn't won them anything)
7) West Brom - pretty irrational, taking sides in a local rivalry 100 miles from me - I do want them to go down!
From here it's just mild dislike
8) Scottish Rugby Union team, as they suck and it's always good to beat the Scots
9) MK Dons - purely as Franchise Football sucks and as the first (and only) team in England to move more than 5 or 6 miles, they get the wrath from it
10) Leeds FC - this one's irrational, but heh

Fixed the smiley for ya :-D -ms

Here's my list...

1. New York Yankees
2. Boston Red Sox
3. New York Jets
4. New England Patriots
5. New York Knicks
6. Boston Celtics (notice the pattern?)
7. Los Angeles Lakers
8. Los Angeles Dodgers
9. Anaheim Ducks (notice the new pattern?)
10. Miami Heat

I couldn't put the Boston Bruins on my list.  Why?  They traded Joe Thornton to the Sharks for just about nothing.  Thanks to the Bruin organization!

Pretty much the only sports I routinely watch are auto racing (virtually all kinds except drag racing) and college football.  Auto racing generally doesn't translate too well to this sort of listing, and the only really passionate dislike I have in that arena is Kyle Busch.  So here's my football dislikes:

1. Auburn Tigers.  This should be self-explanatory--I'm an Oregon Ducks fan.
2. Oklahoma Sooners.  Sore losers from my experience, and I routinely watch their football games just to root for whoever's opposing them.  (I was giddy after Mizzou beat them and knocked them off #1.)
3. California Golden Bears
4. USC Trojans

Surprisingly, I don't really mind Oregon State, and I only generally root against the Beavers when they're playing the Ducks in the Civil War (though I was actually kind of glad to see Stanford beat Oregon State this year).  Their fans can be pretty obnoxious, though.

And while I don't really follow the NBA that much, as an Oregonian, this is obligatory:
5. Los Angeles Lakers

Oh, come on. Different teams play and defeat each other in championships every year. I can understand being pissed at them right now, but there's no way you disliked them before this one past game. Someone has to win.

Does $cam Newton have anything to do with your dislike of Auburn?

I'm also from Oregon, but I agree with your point.  Although I usually pull more for Oregon State than Oregon, I root for both.  But I have nothing particularly against Auburn for winning.  It was a close game, and the better team probably won.  I was more than mollified by my old high school winning its first state title in football, and Green Bay winning the Super Bowl.  I've been rooting for the Packers for no really good reason since I was 8; they're pretty much my favorite team in all sports.

The major thing tainting Auburn's win were the allegations against Newton and some more recent ones against the program, which I have a feeling will ultimately result in Auburn vacating that championship, like USC had to do because of Reggie Bush.  That's the real shame here, if it happens.  Of course, Oregon is also being currently investigated by the NCAA, so the same might have happened had the Ducks won.

Since I'm in the thread, here are my most hated teams:

1.  New York Yankees
2.  LA Lakers
3.  Dallas Cowboys
4.  Miami Hurricanes
5.  Oklahoma Sooners

But over time, this has shifted around.  At various times, I'd have put the Pittsburgh Steelers, Florida State Seminoles, Texas Longhorns, or others on the list.
Don't expect any rational explanation on why I hate these particular teams, rationality has nothing to do with being a sports fan!

I see your point as well, and agree that there has to be winners and losers--that's part of the game.

But yes, $cam Newton does have a lot to do with my dislike of Auburn.  The dealings around him shady, and not just the business with his dad shopping him around--the guy essentially got kicked out of Florida for poor academics and behavior.  On top of that, he's largely the product of SEC hype.  Newton was a non-factor for much of the BCS Championship game, and really, it was Fairley and Dyer than won that game for Auburn.  Oregon might have pulled it off had Dyer not executed that spectacular play at the end of the 4th quarter when he managed to keep his knee off the ground.

The Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame are two teams I really don't like.  I've been a Beaver fan since 1967 but there is no hatred for the Ducks' athletic teams on my end and I liked it when they won the CBI as OSU did a couple years ago.  It's too bad they lost to Auburn in the title game but if any Pac-10 team is playing in a bowl game or for a national title, they get my support even if they are the rival team or one that has hammered us more often than not.

Favorite memory: OSU 41  Notre Dame 9 (2001 Fiesta Bowl)  The winningest team of the 20th century lost to the losingest team of the 20th century on the first day of the 21st century.  The Irish have yet to recover from that loss.

For the next two weeks, the Tampa Bay Lightning will top my list of hated teams, but the following list is more of a regular basis.

1. Pittsburgh Penguins
2. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State (SIC) University Hoakies (they themselves misspelled it that way on souvenir cups, so I prefer to honor their own mistake when I use that name)
3. Philadelphia Flyers
4. New York Rangers
5. Maryland Terrapins
6. UNC Tar Heels
7. Dallas Cowboys
8. Philadelphia Phillies (primarily due to fan behavior when they visit DC)
9. McLaren-Mercedes
10. Los Angeles National League Franchise (my parents, and all my other relatives except two cousins younger than me, grew up in Brooklyn)

The Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox, etc. do not make my list because I do not watch American League baseball except when the Nationals play an AL team. When I was a kid I liked the idea of the DH because I thought more offense was good, but I didn't appreciate the strategy that goes into the traditional rules, and I definitely didn't understand how much the DH unnecessarily prolongs AL games.

My list:

1. Anaheim Angels
2. New York Giants (err excuse me, New Jersey Giants)
3. New York Jets (ahem)
4. Texas Rangers
5. Detroit Red Wings
6. New Jersey Nets
7. Boston Red Sox
8. Toronto Blue Jays
9. New Jersey Devils
10. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (every single one of them)

Of course, noticeably missing from my list is the New England Patriots, but that's because they are my favorite football team. ;)
