The obvious choice in Maryland would be I-68 (Sideling Hill, anyone?), but curious if any of the other Maryland forumers have different roads in mind.

As a former Marylander, I would agree, but add old US-40 (now MD-144) up and over Sideling Hill as a close second.  I'm old enough to have driven that way before US-48/I-68 was built through there.

Back in your day, was it actually US-40?

Yes, it was.   I lived in Maryland from 1979 to 1986.  I think that section of freeway opened shortly before I moved away.

Why isn't US-53 extended along WI/IL-35 to US-20? And why isn't the rest of WI-35 US-253?
If you ever feel useless, remember that CR 504 exists.

WI-35

Oof just realized that Door County exists :meh:

My recollection of Door (only one visit for one night) was that the roads themselves weren't particularly memorable even if some of the scenery away from them was.

VA 5 and VA 6 are both wonderful drives headed out from either side of Richmond. I drove VA 5 in the fall a couple of years ago from Williamsburg to Richmond and the foliage made for some great scenery.
