Greetings from the Hoosier State! I've been lurking since I stumbled here from a Google search, and I've been enjoying it immensely. I joined to make a couple of posts, and decided I would be polite enough to introduce myself.

At an age when most little boys dreamed of becoming a fireman or astronaut, I dreamed of becoming a cartographer. Like most childhood ambitions, that went by the wayside. After a detour into the insurance industry, I ended up in computer programming and support. I never lost the interest in maps and geography.

Welcome Tom! You will find a good number of fellow Indianans here and several topics of discussion on roads within the Hoosier State.

Cartography is great, I had a job in the field several years ago and it was perfect for me. Unfortunately as I got into the paper map industry it was on its way out

Thanks, Alex. A job that has been at least partly outmoded by technology. I'm hoping mine (IT support in the newspaper industry) remains viable for a few more years.

Same here...I wanted to get into the field of mapmaking and geography also known as earth sciences, but it never happened and I'm now employed as a courtesy store clerk. Anyway, welcome aboard to the AAroads (I keep returning to the forum), where it's all one happy trail to anywhere discussing maps and roads.
