Greetings from the Hoosier State! I've been lurking since I stumbled here from a Google search, and I've been enjoying it immensely. I joined to make a couple of posts, and decided I would be polite enough to introduce myself.

At an age when most little boys dreamed of becoming a fireman or astronaut, I dreamed of becoming a cartographer. Like most childhood ambitions, that went by the wayside. After a detour into the insurance industry, I ended up in computer programming and support. I never lost the interest in maps and geography.

Thanks to everyone for a great board!

Welcome. I wanted to be a cartographer as a child as well, and even briefly pursued a geography degree in college, but eventually went elsewhere.

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

Don't @ me. Seriously.

I miss the state outline. Thanks for the reminder. It's been mostly gone since I was a kid. Thanks to you and Takumi for the greetings.

The current square outline is rather boring.  The state outline had some flair.

Anyway, welcome to the forum!
I don't need a GPS.  I AM the GPS! (for family and friends)

Welcome Tom! You will find a good number of fellow Indianans here and several topics of discussion on roads within the Hoosier State.

Cartography is great, I had a job in the field several years ago and it was perfect for me. Unfortunately as I got into the paper map industry it was on its way out :/

Thanks, Alex. A job that has been at least partly outmoded by technology. I'm hoping mine (IT support in the newspaper industry) remains viable for a few more years.

Same here...I wanted to get into the field of mapmaking and geography also known as earth sciences, but it never happened and I'm now employed as a courtesy store clerk. Anyway, welcome aboard to the AAroads (I keep returning to the forum), where it's all one happy trail to anywhere discussing maps and roads.
Get your kicks...on Route 99! Like to turn 66 upside down. The other historic Main street of America.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
