Quote from: CoreySamson on January 17, 2026, 11:47:05 PMI drove past a week ago, and the hanging shield either fell off or has been removed, leaving the old OK 3 shield on the sign.

Someone followed my advice from the damaged signs thread:

Seems like newer uni-sign version of the Camden County Road shields.

Seems odd to see a CR used in Texas.  Plus the pairing with BL I-20 is even more of an oddity on a guide sign.

Yep, usually it's spelled out as "County Road", or that one with an off-spec shield on I-35.

The shields assembly this replaced also had the US routes on them.  Whats more odd is US 169 changes alignment here to enter the WB I-70 freeway here.

Then this assembly has US 24 (one of the three routes that concurs with I-70) only.

Should use US 169 instead of US 24 being this is US 169. Plus US 24 has no follow ups anyway after this sign as only I-35 & 70 are only shielded ahead.

The Buck O Neil Bridge signing contractors goofed here.

How do you know they weren't doing exactly what the plans told them to do?

Always found the small red-on-white sign interesting. Apparently the Cape didn't have 911 service until 1994, so it must date from around that time:

Where I grew up in the 1990s, I don't remember when they got 911 service.  I learned the local phone number for the police station as a kid instead, and it was four-digit dialing at the time.  So, if memory serves, I grew up knowing 3833 instead of 911 in the early 1990s.  (And the hospital, where my mom worked, was 3211.)

Whatever, someone goofed whether it was the contractor or the one who drew up the plans, point is its not representing the needed trailblazing for US 169 Southbound.

Gee, I never knew I didn't have 911 service when I lived on the Cape until 1995.

When I grew up in Massachusetts, or at least in my part of Massachusetts, all the towns used xxx-1212 for the police, seven digits.

LilianaUwU

By the time I was born, I'm pretty sure it was 911 already, but there were indeed "URGENCE 9-1-1" signs along the roads. At least one example remained when I last went to my hometown in 2022:

"Volcano with no fire... Not volcano... Just mountain."

The diamond gore warning with up arrows instead of down ones is very strange.

"Double Arrow" (W12-1) signs are installed upside down often enough to not be that unique...

(Note also, the double arrow sign is not limited to use at gore points as seen above...although that is probably its most common usage. It can also be used to advise road users that traffic may pass on either side of an island or other obstruction.)

It was the first time I'd seen one.

I'm pretty sure, based on my reading of the MUTCD, that's what it's supposed to be used for.
May or may not be batticorn.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Someone just posted a video showing the latest sign update on the ACE westbound in Pleasantville, NJ. It is part of the toll booth removal there and unfortunately I can't find it again, as it was on social media.

It shows them installing Exit 5 to the left of Exit 4 on the gantry.  The issue: Exit 4 is first. Both exits on right too.

Has anyone drove the ACE through thus area to confirm that the sign bridge is signed backwards.
